Don't aplogize Penni, you are always welcome to " butt in " ! That's

interesting! I had never heard that before about beta levels and a

heartbeat being related....well, if my beta was 767 on Monday then I

should be pretty close to 1500 now assuming I am still doubling.

Maybe I should make my appointment for next week (I will finish my

6th week on Monday....)

Thanks for the info!

Well I think we need to do some more research on this....at 2.5 mg of

Premarin...you are taking about 50 TIMES the normal birth control

pill doseage of estrogen which is about 0.05mg per day. So if 0.05 mg

per day can prevent ovulation...how in the heck can you ovulate while

taking 50 TIMES that much?! I just don't get it at all...

Is she saying that you will take the Premarin for a few weeks and

then STOP and THEN you will ovulate?

Hey Gwen and Penni,

I wish I knew more about this estrogen stuff. I remember my RE saying that the estrogen in BCP's is different then the generic estrogen we have been taking so you can't equate the dosage strengths between the two forms. One thing we know is that BCP's are not good for building up linings and the generic estrogen is. It has to do with the type of estrogen that is in these two types of pills, they act on different receptors in the body. The BCP's will not help lining and won't let you ovulate whereas the generic estrogen will help build linings and will enhance your ability to conceive. In fact, Dr. Indman placed me on 4 mg per day estrogen before my surgery for Ashermans and he told me I needed to use birth control (barrier) because the last thing he wanted me to do was to get pregnant before he removed my scars. I laughed because of my fertility problems, but he was quite serious.

I think that the estrogen in BCP's once in the body turns into another type of estrogen.

Now the difference between the generic estrogens and premarin is that Premarin is the natural occurring estrogen taken from pregnant mares and the generic estrogen that many of us use is synthetic. The estrogen in these two forms act on the receptors in the uterus and perhaps the ovaries and therefore enhance fertility. The estrogen in BCP's may be another type and acts on different estrogen receptors in the body and my guess would be that it acts on the receptors in our brains (pituitary or hypthalmus) thereby "tricking" it to stop releasing FSH. This is just a guess.

Anyway, the point here is that we cannot draw conclusions about all these estrogens because they are not the same in their effects and there are other important pharmacological and physiological factors that we don't know about. I wish i knew more, but i hope this helps a little.

Hey Gwen,

Just got a wild idea while reading about all this waiting on betas.

WOuldn't it be great if we could actually check our betas ourselves.

I mean we check everything else like pregnancy, ovulation, you name

it..Just a thought, there's gotta be a way. Some day one of us should

come up with a test for it and that would be one rich lady judging by

the needs of this group. Just a ridiculous thought, must be getting

late.

S.

p.s. it just dawned on me I didn't sign my last post to you with all

the questions as they pertained to your initial AS diagnosis...If I

need to I will send it again.

Penni - Oh I have been testing...so far I've tested THREE times! Once

on the 25th, once on the 27th and then once this morning so I'm still

keeping the HPT people in business don't worry!

I wish I had more concrete news as well but I don't. I am having

every symptom in the book, my breasts are very sore and sensitive,

I've had low " heaviness " and occasional cramping, a headache....but I

had all the same symptoms the last time I had a chemical as well so

the kinds of or severity of my symptoms doesn't seem to be a good

predictor for me. But it does seem overwhelmingly unfair that I have

to deal with all the symptoms if I'm not actually going to be

pregnant in the end....but then, who said the universe was supposed

to be fair huh?!

Thanks for your note....so glad you only have 2 weeks left until your

septum resection...we may end up on the same schedule yet my friend!

Penni - I know, I was so hoping that this was " it " as

well....especially given that it was unexpected I really started to

allow myself to believe that this was going to be the one....when we

weren't trying...when we had " let go " ....a surprise " reward " for

trusting and taking things as they come....but apparently not.

I have a call into my doctor now to discuss a referral to an RE who

is on their staff that specializes in mulitple loss....just to rule

out any " simple " causes. I cannot go through more surgery...I just

don't have it in me...but I also won't have any peace until I can be

sure I'm not missing something " easy " to fix.

Thanks for the thoughts...

I've been waiting for your post...I was going to call you but don't

want to bother or wake you...I know you must be feeling pretty rough

right now.

I have the exact same reaction to General Anesthesia....they give me

every anti-nausea drug known to man and I still vomit violently

afterwards.....last time I threw up for almost 24 hours, it was awful.

I am so glad to hear you are scar-free...and now that your septum is

out you should be " good to go! " my friend! I'm very glad that

everything went so well and that you have some help there with you to

chase Alec around the yard for you while you rest.

Take it easy please....I'm thinking of you and sending you healing

vibes!

I appologize, guess I am overly sensative today. I figured that I

misunderstood something, but just wanted to ask.

I definitely agree with you regarding those questions that people ask

like " so when are you going to have kids " etc. I avoid any of those

types of questions...maybe cause I am overly sensative to them.

Where are you at now that you that you have undergone the

septoplasty? I have another hysteroscopy in June to get that last

little bit of scar tissue. I have no idea though about my

endometrium lining and need to ask my doctor about it.

Again I appologize for my comments and speaking out of turn...no

excuse for it.

((hugs)) back at you
