Guest guest
Oh my dear , I understand about your fingers being sore. I will make this brief. I play the piano, crochet, embroidery, sew, type, and anything “crafty” and can’t afford for my fingers to be sore. Then I “wised up”! Do not use the tips nor the pads of your fingers. I have found that I can use either side of all of my fingers fairly close to my nails and I also use a Soft Clix adjustable lance “thingy”. When I first started it was already set on #3. I didn’t know any better so I left it there and it hurt! Then a friend of mine (who has one just exactly like mine) said that she has hers set on #1.5 and it didn’t hurt at all. Well, I set mine on #1 but sometimes had to poke it twice. Then I increased it to #1.5 (I can’t make the little one-half figure work on here) and I NEVER have to poke twice anymore and I get plenty of blood. All of nurses at the diabetic clinic use the sides and they never to hurt me either. I hope this helps, Tootie " When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me.' Guest guest
Sorry to hear you are having sore fingers. What meter do you use? I was getting sore fingers too, then I switched from an older Accu- Check to an Ultra One Touch, and I have found it to be much less painful than the Accu-Check was. No more sore fingers. The Ultra One Touch needs less blood to get a reading and reads it in only 5 seconds. It is one that says you can use the arm, but I never have because the finger pricks are not a problem with it. in BC my bg > i don't know what i am doing wrong. i am eatting right exercising. > and still my bg is going higher and higher. it was running in the > 140's and now it is up in the 160's. i don't understand it. i go > thursday and my doctor with detremine if i need meds or not. i have > a feeling she is going to put my on oral meds. i am only testing my > bg twice a day and my fingers are killing me. i hate niddles, and my > fingers are so sore it takes my 15 mins to get the courage to prick > my damn finger. i hate this. i wanted to get one of those machines > that you can test whereever you want, but the doctor said that they > are not very reliable. the tips of the finger are the best place to > get a more reliable reading. Guest guest
The only one that allows testing accurately on other parts of the body is the Freestyle. But readings from other parts of the body are a little delayed so if you think you are going low, they recommend you test on your finger. I'm sure that you will be on meds and that they will help you have good numbers. Like I said before - nothing wrong with that. It's more important that you get good control and feel the best that you can. Hugs,

GRRRRRRRRR HUGS, stephanie ---you should do the sides of the tips of your fingers and it will not hurt so much and you have eight fingers with two sides, so that should be enough to keep it from hurting. do you have the extra fine needles? I thought i was very sensitive to pain, but it does not hurt me to test the 4 times a day i do it. Sandy H
Guest guest
, I am new to this too but kind of have gotten control over my High bg. Well I only like brown rice and can do without the potatoes. Last night my bg was 127 he said my range is 70-125 and I have already lost over 10 pounds. Didn't get to walk as much as I like to due to the rain and the exercise bike bothers me and my dogs. During the week I have a bowl of cereal with a 1/2 banana and a tablespoon of Flax on it and Splenda w/ 1% milk along with my coffee. This may not work for anyone else but is doing something for me I think. Hope this helps.
