That's 50% of what medicine is and probably 75% of what law is. Knowing

where to find the information you need. (The other 25% of law practice is

how to do TV commercials for afternoon TV [for the depressed housewives and

unemployed ex-cons] and look good doing it [i.e., " The Texas Hammer " and

" The Tough, Smart Lawyer]). Of course, the other 50% of medical practice is

the compassionate, empathetic care of the ill and infirm, turning down all

offers from the church for sainthood and, upon retirement, blushing when you

are offered a position on the Holy Trinity.

That afternoon TV thing--don't forget the EMS crews with too much down time

on their hands!

Unless you're an opthalmologist who does Lasik, or a dermatologist who

conducts Botox parties in your living room. In those specialties TV

commercial production is a required course, as is Martha 's How to Be

a Gracious Hostess.

We lawyers have learned much from them.
