Carol,

This interests me. If he's a Muslim, then cannabis is definitely the lesser

of two evils, at least with the Shi'ites (according the late Ayatollah

Khomeini, whose legal utterances include something like the words " Wine is

unclean, but bhang is clean " (bhang being cannabis drink -- out of your tiny

on a cupful). I wonder what the " sobriety test " was? Failing to admit you

wuz stoned?

Yours,

.

Jabbar story from Rutgers

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Arrested for

Marijuana

07/19/00

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former Los Angeles Lakers

star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, leading scorer in National Basketball Association

history, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of

marijuana Tuesday night.

Abdul-Jabbar was arrested in a Los Angeles suburb after being stopped for

speeding; the arresting officer smelled marijuana, police said. Police

spokesman Funes said the former basketball great also failed to

pass a sobriety test.

He was released without bond after being booked on the misdemeanor charge.

Abdul-Jabbar has been quoted in the past as saying he uses marijuana to

control

nausea which accompanies his migraine headaches.

During his career, he accumulated 44,149 total points in regular season

and playoff games. He played for 20 years and was a member of six

NBA championship teams, five Los Angeles Lakers squads and the

Milwaukee Bucks.

Maybe, the arresting officers present the suspect with a package of

twinkies and nachos. If the suspect eats them inside of 1 minute, he

fails the marijuana sobreity test.

Fwiw Khomeini also said the menstruating woman was uncleaner than a

camel.

The old " walk a stright line " test with a few things added.

Thanks, Pete,

" fwiw " is a new one me. WII -- what is it?

The Ayatollah K's books are a scream, of course. I had to read a couple to

pull out some quotes. His personalised reiterations of 2,800-odd Shi'ite

laws get quite incredible in their detail -- right down to precise

procedures to adopt in the event of burping, finding a piece of food in your

teeth, etc., while praying. The only exception to the firm rule that men

may not wear women's clothes is in the case of praying, where the sole

alternative to being naked would be to pray in women's clothes. Nakedness

is in this case the greater of two evils. I know next to nothing about

camels, but his comparison is especially pointless and offensive.

I'm being very un-PC I'm sure,

Yours,

.

fwiw, fwiw means for what it's worth.

iirc he makes several unflattering comparisons with a woman whe she is

menstruating. Y'know, I saw a young camel the other day and I could

have sworn it looked like Khomeini.

Yeah, and nicotine and caffeine help alleviate my arthritic aches and

pains.

It's light-weight excuses like Kareem's that hurt the cancer and

glaucoma victims who could really be helped by legalizing mj for

medical reasons.
