hi

i'm in day 10 after surgery, every thing is going great, i have no pain at

all at the moment except for a dull ache where my wound is, i'm looking

forward to getting my clips out next tuesday, i've gone from taking 8

painkillers a day to none which makes me feel great, how there are 2 problems

concerning me, first i still have a lot of swelling around my ankle/foot, is

this normal?if so how long will it last?, the second is my water works, it

seems i only have to take a small amount of water and not long goes by before

i have to go for a wee i'm also feeling very dry, i can stand for this during

the day but it keeps waking me up at night ruining my sleep. has anybody else

experienced these problems

Hi there, yes i had all the problems that you mentioned, and the pain

relief as well. Swelling will go down after about 3 weeks especially

if you do exercises with your foot raised, doing the alphabet thing

really worked well for me ie. writing the alphabet with your foot.

As regards waterworks, did you have a catheter after your

op?? If so this can lead to problems, i actually had a sample tested

to see if i had an infection, but i did not. Advice seems to be drink

as much as possible , up to 3 litres a day and the problem should

sort itself out.Getting up during the nite is a pain in the ass ( as

well as the leg ) but should get less frequent.

Regards , Kinnon.
