Guest guest
Hi Sue -- I don't have any experience with the protein powders but some do and there are recipes in the files section for this list. Try some peanut butter on saltines. The good thing about that is you can make just one, eat it in 4 or 5 little bites, real easy. The legume + grain makes a complete protein. Hope this helps. Congratulations on your switched-ness and great loss to date. Guest guest
Debbie - I am am 66 years old and new to the group and usually only linger in the background and read. But, I felt compelled to respond to you. I am also someone who cannot lose on 1200 cal/day. So I created my own diet where I ate about 800 cal/day. I ate primarily protein (lean deli turkey, lean chicken breast, fish and fat-free cottage cheese, an egg, and sometimes a little cheese to make a vegetable omelette plus a little fruit and a little vegetables each day. I did not eat between meals, except for a sugar free popsicle once in a while. I drank at least 64 oz/day water and also did water exercise four times a week. I cannot walk much, and then only with the use of a walker, so the exercise option was limited to water. I had to lose 26 pounds before surgery. Yesterday I met with Dr. Baggs at Richmond Kaiser. When I weighed in, I had lost my 26 lbs., so I am scheduled for surgery next Tuesday morning! I am so excited and grateful! With only 800 cal/day, I did not have much energy, but enough to do what was necessary for me and my husband. I am retired, which helped. I wish you all the luck in the world, stick with it - you can succeed with determination! Ellen (5 days pre-op!) help I have to loose 20 lbs by Oct. 2nd, then they will schedule surgery. I am sticking to the pre op diet but it does not seem to be coming off! I am afraid I won't be able to do it! Before only way I have ever been able to loose was near starvation, I certainly have never lost on a 1200 calorie diet. I want this so bad more than anything but what if I can not get it off! I am also going to water aerobics several times a week, sometimes twice a day. I would welcome any and all suggestions!!! I just have to make it!
