Yes, that is my understanding too and am doing lots of sports now, at just barely 5 months post-op. Swimming is really good as is some weightlifting to build up the muscles in the legs. Don't lift a lot or weight, just use full range of motion and try to get things to work. A lot of things haven't been used, so be nice to them! > I want to share my positive experience so >that other active peaple can take advantage of resurfacing in all >parts of the world. Typical: we were the first country to adopt decimal money, well over 200 years ago, but can't quite seem to use the metric system. Americans tend to be conservative generally, so as we say, " if it isn't broken, don't fix it. " > Is it >something to do with insurance.? Those socks, or TEDS as we call them, are mainly required for the first 5-6 weeks post-op. So if you are at 6 month now, you are way beyond the critical period. I had my both hips done by De Smet in Belgium (bilateral BHR), and I am also a Ankylosing Spondylitis patient, so it seems we have some bad thing in common... take care,
Guest guest
Welcome to the group, Premindy- I am just at 4 weeks post op and still am required by Dr Mont to wear TEDS--I hate em, but will wear them for another 2 wks until Dr Mont lets me put some weight on my operated leg. Guest guest
Hi Premindy, and welcome, I believe you are the first visitor from the sub-continent. Glad to hear that your operation was a success and that you intend to stay on here. I have read some stuff about hip operations on your own BHR resurfacing site: http://www.hipresurfacingindia.com. It makes the point that osteo arthritis of the hip is a disease of the young in your country, whereas in the west it is (mainly) a problem for older people - present company excepted! Guess you know about one of the alternatives that a lot of your countrymen end up with - a " fused " hip: and we surfers worry about getting a Total Hip Replacement! The BHR must be a God-send there. And what a bargain by western standards - I reckon 160,000 rupees is equivalent to GB£2,300 or US$3,300 - a discount of 60% off a Belgian BHR, 75% off a British one and 90% of a U.S. equivalent. I have one co-director and two friends with Ankolosing Spondilitis, so I guess the name is universal. One guy, who is my age (55) had his first THR at the age of 29. Pity BHR wasn't around than. Great to hear from you Terry - BHR RH (11 months - London) > Hi,I am from india and new to the group and atlast realised the true > potential of the internet though i am a software engineer by > profession ( sometimes i wondered whether i had opted for a freak > procdure)Now after becoming a member of this group iam resting easy. When Mr McMinn did mine (over two years ago), he was assisted by two surgeons in training, one from India and the other from Germany. Sadly, I cannot remember the name of either - maybe that was your surgeon. Do you know how many doctors in India are using the BHR? Guest guest
Hello , I haven't ever replied before. Our daughter is four and has had seizures since 5 1/2 months old. No other problems though, thank God. We have been on the diet since August and didn't get seizure control until Dec. 2nd. We have complete control and our daughter is seizure-med. free. The biggest joy we have is watching her learn more and more every day. She was taking lamictal, topamax, and pheno. Wow! This diet has brought us hope for her future and a new little girl. I know everyone is different, but so far for us, it truly has been a miracle diet. If you ever need help or advise, don't hesitate to ask. My husband and I almost gave up several times, but we hung in there. new to the group HELLO MY NAME IS GINA. I HAVE A 6 YEAR OLD SON WHO HAS LENNOX GASTAUT SYNDROME.
