Hi. Trudy,

I am just pretty much just sitting around doing basic PT excercises. I will be able to drive this Friday and that will help me I think. Getting a little cabin fever. How is your

resurfacing research going?

Trudy,

I went surfing in Baltimore with Dr. Mont and his great team.

I have (had) bilateral femoral head AVN. I had a partial

surf on the left with a full surf on the right. Conserve Plus.

I would strongly recommend Baltimore .....a very positive

experieince. Email me if you have any questions.

Tim,

I've read everything possible I have found up to now on the

internet. Still have to see if I can find anything under Dr. Mont.

I was advised to get my hands on a copy of what they send to doctors

about the procedure. Anyone know how to do that?

I got my xrays in my clutches and will be sending them out ASAP. Also

have an app. with the local OS to talk.

Tim,

When and where did you have your surf job?? Being new I gotta catch

up on the basics! :)

Trudy,

I know you had addressed this to Tim but thought I'd throw my .02 in

anyway. The docs seem to be leaning away from simultaneous surf jobs. A

lot depends on how difficult your hips would be and your size. As my Dr.

told me, we do one hip, then roll you over on that fresh hip for 2-3 hours

while we do the second hip-with my size, I'd be begging for a blood clot.

I had mine approx. a month apart although I see some docs do them a week

apart (I personally don't get that AT ALL-the first is not fully weight

bearing, staples are still in, etc.).

As might be expected data seems to indicate much higher complication rate for bilat surgery.

, Thanks for the info. I never thought about clots. I was

thinking mainly about, " Will the surgeon be able to hold out that

long? " and about the length of anesthesia.

Trudy,

Yes some do simultaneous re-surf. I would say it is less common. I had

the 2nd just 7 days after first, as many do. It is quite hard for

2-3days after the 2nd but you know what to expect after the first.

Getting recovery done in one go is no problem because you just get

better and better, which goes on for well over the 12 month mark. If

you stay optimistic and delighted at progress, however slow, life is a

constant " buzz " of progress. I would strongly recommend having both

done close together if you are up to it and your surgery team think so

too.

Good luck
