It's just that I want some reassurance that he is taking the right path. I wasn't sure if high bili levels were normal for PSC patients or not. Guest guest
Tim, Most of the discussion of bilirubin levels here use US units, while the rest of the world uses SI units. Your bilirubin level of 40 µmol/liter is equal to 2.34 mg/dl in US units - elevated, but not cause for alarm. As Aubrey said, it is only when albumin and INR are also abnormal that the indicated liver capability is significantly degraded. Laboratory Test, Normal Range (US), Normal Range (SI) Bilirubin - Total, 0.0-1.0 mg/dl, 0-17 µmol/liter Convertion factor for US to SI Units = x 17.1 http://www.aidsinfonet.org/articles.php?articleID=120#anchor274313 Tim R ltx 4/4/98, recurrent PSC 2002 > my bilirubin is 40. Guest guest
Thanks Tim That is yet one more complication in understanding what to me is a fairly complicated illness. (Should have paid more attention in biology at school!). tim > Tim, > Most of the discussion of bilirubin levels here use US units, while >
Guest guest
Tim,I was hospitalised locally when my count rose to 184..... I had a spell at Kings and a liver transplant assessment. thank GOd the broad spectrum antibiotics seemed to have lowered the count to the mid 60s.
