Guest guest
Aubrey, Sounds like you had a nice trip. I've never been there, but would like to go some time. I was hoping you could give me some comfort and information. My son called early this morning from a hospital in Great Neck, NY. Apparently, he hit his head pretty hard during an AM basketball practice. He never lost consciousness. I guess he got up to play and felt dizzy so he sat down. The trainer asked him a bunch of questions and he was confused, so they sent him down to the locker room and that's all he remembers until he became aware that he was sitting in a waiting room of the local ER. Apparently, they got the Academy's ambulance and brought him to the ER. They did do a CT scan and said there was no damage. He originally thought they would send him home today, but now they are keeping him for another night. He still seems rather disoriented and he is still very dizzy when he stands up. I am concerned because all I've been able to talk to is my son who can't even remember the one visit he got yesterday from the team's trainer. I asked him to have the doctor call me, so I can find out exactly what they are doing, etc. What should I be prepared to ask him? said that the think he has a concussion and will probably be dizzy for four or five days. He has also been nauseated. He hit his forehead but he doesn't remember how exactly. His head hurts also. He needs to lean on the wall to walk. At one time he thought he was home in Idaho and couldn't figure out where he was. Any thoughts etc would be greatly appreciated since I feel so helpless here. I think his coach should have called us! I can't believe no one but my son has talked to us. Thanks to anyone who can give me some advice.
