Guest guest
put a pinch of table salt (sea salt would be even better, but table salt will do it) in your palm and slowly lick it gone. let each bit dissolve completely in your mouth - you want it to be absorbed as much as you can, rather than swallowed. lots and lots of water. most headaches are triggered by dehydration. if you're thirsty and/or if your urine is colloured, you're dehydrated. go drink 16 oz right now, then keep a glass next to you and take a sip any time you think of it. Do NOT drink more than 2 gallons in a day and do NOT drink more than 32oz an hour (unless you are really that thirsty). try to avoid caffeine; it is dehydrating; but if you get symptoms of caffeine withdrawl go ahead & ahve some. I am getting specific becuase you're an Aspie, and if I say, " go drink all the water you can stand " you will put yourself in the hospital by drinking a gallon in the next 5 minutes. lots and lots of vit c. start with 2 grams. that's 2,000 mg or 4 500mg tablets. wait an hour or two & if it's not any better, take another 2 grams. With all the meds you're on that's all I'm going to suggest that you take any more than that; normally I would tell you to take it to bowel tolerance but that will affect your meds. if it is a tension headache, take a full day's worth (I think 1600mg but it's in the bathroom & I'm nursing Gabe) of a calcium & magnesium supplement, & put heat on the back of your neck. it's worth a shot. if that doesn't help in an hour, take another 1/2 day's dose & try hot running water on your neck. if it's a migraine, try a drop of peppermint oil on your forehead. the kind you make candy with is fine. if it is too strong dilute it with another oil -- dip your finger in vegetable oil & rub your forehead with that. if still too strong wash well with soap & water. the first 3 things will help with any headache. the second 2 can be used together. As a last resort I'd do simultaneous tylenol, ibuprofin, & caffeine. This makes me sick to my stomach but sometimes that's better than incapacitating pain. Feel better soon! -Sara. Guest guest
In a bizarre twist, right after I sent this came in and was acting very strangely. I was impatient and snapped at him, and HE yelled, " ooooh, I can't do it I have a headache! " and ran out of the room. Bizarre. Guest guest
Do you have a carbon monixide detector. If everyone in the house has a headache you might want to get out of the house and have it checked for that. Guest guest
Sleep. If the meds are touching it, then all I can recommed is sleep and stay hydrated. What about caffeine? That might help... Penny anybody suffer from bad headaches? I've got one right now that has interfered with my functioning all day. I'm a very crappy mom today, hiding in the computer room with the shades drawn, gritting my teeth every time speaks to me, coming out to feed and water him... aceteminophen with codeine didn't touch it. ibuprofen didn't touch it. hot bag didn't touch it. cold bag didn't touch it. Guest guest
What works for me is putting my feet in very warm water and putting ice or a cold cloth on my head. Also, cough drops with menthol and eucalyptus seem to take the pressure off. My headeaches are usually caused by my allergies, what do you think is causing yours? Guest guest
Excederin Migraine works pretty well for me...but usually it works better if you take it right when the headache starts. Once it is bad for me, it is just bad...usually nausea and intense pain. Not good. But over the counter, this is the best thing I have found. Hope the headache is gone by now. Don't have them any more. I used to take prescription med (fiurinol or something like that??). That was about the only thing I could do. Strange but true: When I had those headaches, I also ground my teeth together alot. I didn't realize I was doing it until my dentist pointed it out to me. I made myself notice when I was gritting my teeth and made myself stop. That may also be why the headaches finally stopped. Guest guest
Roasted Peanuts (not boiled, and salted) also work VERY well for migraines. There is something in peanut oil that blocks pain receptors, and settles the stomach " It is a curious thought, but it is only when you see people looking ridiculous that you realize just how much you love them.
