Guest guest
So cool! Thats a very big understatement;) I remember wondering if what I thought I heard was what one of the boys actually said. Take it for what it might have been. Glad you found some money for Candy too. That could have been a disaster;) Jacquie H > Maybe a week ago, while was destroying the kitchen, he opened the > lock on the junk drawer and rummaged through it. Guest guest
We've always felt guilty eating ice cream when can't because of his dairy allergy. Silly of us though since he really has never had any interest in ice cream. Anyway, I got him some strawberry sorbet last week, and he's hooked big time! Sue Re: Mikey wants candy! > So cool! Guest guest
This morning I got Mark to say I love you. Well ok I am probably the only person in the world who would understand what he was trying to say but it was so great. I ask him to say " I love you mommy " he responded with " ah wawoo daddy " . (Yes...still haven't gotten him to break that habit of calling me daddy) But I almost cried, it was so neat to hear him say that, or try to anyway! Tina W > > But we heard it. Guest guest
WHOOHOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! GO MIKEY!!!!!!! Sounds like all your hard work and patience have paid off!!! " It is a curious thought, but it is only when you see people looking ridiculous that you realize just how much you love them. " - Agatha Christie , frazzled mom to: , PDD-NOS, ADHD, Mixed Expressive/Receptive Language Disorder, 4 , NT, Terrible Twos, but adorable none-the-less, 2 Mikey wants candy! Maybe a week ago, while was destroying the kitchen, he opened the lock on the junk drawer and rummaged through it. He found some very old suckers I had completely forgotten about and insisted on eating them. Two days ago he led me to the drawer and had a 3 hour tantrum when there was not any candy in it. Matt actually drove to the store, bought candy, and brought it home. This ended the tantrum. Probably not what we should have done, okay, but we did make him stop the tantrum, make eye contact, and tried to get him to say " candy. " He said, " more " (pronounced 'bowre') and we took it. Tonight he led me to the drawer and had me open it. (I gave him 1/4 clonidine tablet this morning and this has curbed the climbing greatly. He has not gone over the babygate, although if the gate is down he's on top of the bar or in the sink within seconds.) He rummaged through it but did not find candy. He said, " Mama, I want candy. " I swear to God. Matt heard it too. He said it about 5 times. " Mama, ah wuh nan-dee. " And oh dear oh dear, we were out of candy, and Matt gets paid tomorrow and we are totally and completely broke. I scared up $2.25 in change - including pennies - and drove to the corner store to get him candy. I got Altoids, which he adores, and which are reasonably low carb, for candy, especially since you can't eat very many at a time. I can't, anyway. Mikey eats them by the handful. I think 3 of them have 2 grams. And - AND - Mikey accepted colored pencils from the drawer and colored on paper while I was gone. I am FLOORED. Of course, right now he is naked on top of the computer desk lining up CDs. But I am still absolutely floored. Could THIS be what all this horrid behavior has been about for the last few weeks? Could he really just turn a corner like that and start really talking? He has NEVER put words together gramatically like that before. Sure he combines words -- mama dada baby go bye-bye outside -- we hear that a whole lot. He has never said " I " before. Maybe I am pushing it on the " I " but there for sure was an extra syllable in there. He has always called himself 'baby' or sometimes 'my baby' which is what I call him. Or maybe we won't hear it again for a very long time. Maybe it was a complete fluke. But we heard it. Both of us heard it, and it was spontaneous, and it was appropriate, and it was a sentence, and he will do it again. -Sara the Goddess.
