Dear ,

Glad to hear you are feeling some better......At least you are at home now

where you can " run the show " and not have to deal with " Nurses From Hell " .

Stevie of the MGB list posted a short update the day of your surgery, but

it's good to hear from you directly.

had a nurse who must be a twin, separated at birth from her sister

(your nurse Rechid). 's Dr. had specifically told her to increase

's morphine pump dose to 2 mg. every 8 minutes. This nurse argued the

point, then told Dr. R OK. Not 15 minutes later when we had to ring for the

nurse because of 's pain level....she (Nurse) said, " I've talked to the

Dr. and he wants you to try this IM shot first.....before he will agree to

the increase " ......

I knew that Dr. R's post-op orders allowed for the increase, but it was

already 11:00 pm and it wasn't worth the fight since did get a little

relief from the IM med (It turned out to be Toradol, which was SOP for Dr.

R's post-ops every 8 hours)

Anyway....long story, longer: When Dr. R told me the next day that he had

specifically told her 3 times to Increase the Meds.....and then directly

disobeyed his orders..........I hit the roof.

There is now a formal complaint in her personnel file and a letter of

reprimand for her " overruling " Dr.'s orders. The hospital may have " file

13'd " the reprimand once we were gone from the hospital but it got the point

across while was still there.

Your weight loss so far is wonderful.

and I went to my PCP today and " borrowed " their scales....we try not

to go more than once a week, trying not to get so hung-up on numbers...but

neither of us had been in 2 weeks so it was definitely time to " bite the

bullet " and get the inevitable over with.

My pre-op weight was 314 lbs. on Jan. 4, 1999. As of today (7/12) I weigh

209 lbs.

That makes 105 pounds in approx. 6 months. (And that's after finally being

able to eat something for a change since the ulcer is calm right now.)

That is so awesome!!!

I pray that I do as well! I can't wait for my surgery. Since I have to have

it in FL though, I have to have the open RNY. My 1st appt with the dr is on

Sept. 10, so not sure how long I have to wait for surgery.

You are a great example for us pre-ops. Keep posting your progress, please.

Update

From: CmacyM@...

Hello All!

I just thought I'd write and let everyone know how I'm doing. Tomorrow will

be six months since surgery. Today I went to the doctor and he's sending me

for some blood work just to make sure there aren't any deficiencies in the

making. And, of course, the best news is that I've lost exactly 100 lbs!

Woo-Hoo! I'm very happy and very proud, but for some reason I don't think

it's really sunk in yet. I think it'll finally hit me tonight...while I'm

shopping for some new clothes! :-) Wow...100 lbs! Gone forever!!! YEA!

Okay, I'm off to build a float now! Anyone in the Virginia Beach area

should

head out to the Neptune parade on Sunday! If you're there look for me on

the

TWA float! Hope everyone is doing great and has a wonderful Friday!

I know how slow it is when you take metho. On one hand you feel lucky

you didn;t need surgery. But on the other hand if you had surgery it

would be over. Its a double edged sword.

One woman in my group had a friend that did the IV. A nurse came to

her house to do it. She has like 3 kids now. She had to do it w/each

one. Another woman in my group is starting it. I think she was trying

to figure out if her insurance would cover it. I will ask more

questions at my next meeting in November. The woman who is going to

do it won't be there because she is doing a frozen IVF cycle. Her dr

is in another state. But I will see what I can find out. I also found

a web site on it. I saved it on my favorites at work. I'll send it to

you tomorrow.

Hi ,

I'm sorry your having such a frustrating time waiting. It does drive you crazy!!

update

Hi all,

I just got my HCG results and they are now 584 at 5 weeks past metho. A week

ago, they were 800. It seems like they're really slowing down. I hate this!

Pam--I'm the one who was told I have the killer antibody thing--just like your

friend in Resolve. Did she actually go through that intravenous therapy? I

have read that it's controversial whether there's any truth to the antibody

thing and whether the treatment really helps. I also read that the therapy is

very expensive, and that most insurance won't cover it. All depressing news for

me. I just had the test again to confirm, and won't get the results for 3

weeks.

My whole life is a big WAIT. Waiting for HCG to go down, waiting for HSG

test, waiting for antibody results, waiting to talk to the doc. Uggh ... anyone

else tired of waiting???

Give it a few more weeks sweetie and you should be there. I know it's

frustrating, but there's really nothing you can do about it. You are in

my thoughts and prayers.

Love & hugs,

Jo-Ann

I was told by one of my drs. that it can happen w/the pain on the

opposite side of the problem bc of the small area. I hope you are

doing okay and the numbers will go way down next time.

Good luck Janet, If things go good, I should be in for IUI by

approx Feb 20th. Since all my friends have now all had their babies

maybe we'll have cyber pregnancies together. Hope it goes swimmingly

hehe.

well I got AF tonight. Kinda feeling bummed. I didn't do any

procedures this month but the hope is always there that somehow

things just worked themselves out..oh well.

Anyway, I have a quick question. When I talked to my new Dr the

other day, he wanted to redo my day 3 bloodwork. I told the nurse

today that it felt like AF would be coming soon and since my

insurance only covers bloodwork done at my general physicians (which

is closed on the weekend) how should I work it if I got AF Friday.

She told me to go in Friday and have the bloodwork done. Has anyone

else ever had this done or heard of the day day 3 bloodwork being

done on day 1?

thanks

Oh Suzanne,

I am so sorry to hear of your latest

news. Will the D & C take

care of it? You know, Dr. Indman

did a D & C on me and I got pregnant the next cycle. Could you have him do it?

Sorry to hear about your mixed feelings

with the news from your brother and sister in law. Life doesn’t seem fair sometimes

does it? But in a year or so,

things may seem very different then they do now. It’s like there is a plan. Anyway, my heart felt thoughts go out to

you. I wish I could say something

to make you feel better. Take

good care and think about a D & C with Dr. Indman if you have to do it. Hopefully you won’t need one.

Hi ,

She said that the D & C should take care of it. As for going to Dr.

Indman, I would love to but he doesn't take insurance. I don't know

if I can afford it right now. I am completely confident in Dr.

Andreyko and she knows my situation inside and out. I just want it

to be over.

I know there is some plan for us, but I don't know what it is...I

just wish I could take a look at the big book and see what is in

store for us...

Thanks a bunch!

Suzanne
