Guest guest
Thursday, December 18, 2003 7:27 AM CST Here is your evening update for Wednesday December 17:I actually wrote this yesterday. I just didn’t get a chance to post it until now.If you have read the last few updates you know Todd has been off the respirator since yesterday. He came off the dialysis machine this morning. He still has the line for the dialysis in and can’t wait to have it removed. His doctors want to make sure he won’t need to go back on the machine before they pull the line. Slowly they are moving the machines out of his room. You can actually hear the TV now—or sleep. As I write this Todd is sitting in a chair. His nurse got him up and he has been sitting for about 90 minutes. He will get back in bed soon so he does not get too tired. This is the first time out of bed, sitting up, in about a week.Earlier today the ultrasound machine was rolled in to take a look at his blood flow to the liver. We have not heard from the doctors, but it looked like they found what they were looking for quickly and were on their way. One of the nurses told us there was no blockage.Overall, Todd is pretty tired. We hope to see his energy level come up tomorrow. I’m not really sure he knows he has had a second transplant at this point. Things deteriorated so quickly last week we didn’t have a chance to speak with him. We asked him if he wanted to talk about what happened over the past few days and he said “not now.” It will be good to get the old Todd back and we pray for his quick and complete recovery.
