Moved back to the big city at 19 and lived around Kodak park for a while, then after my divorce moved to the south side (Park and Monroe) have kin in Medina, Chili and Rochester, but after a brief time in Dallas transfered to Buffalo, lived in Cheektowaga, then South Buffalo, then moved up to Riverside... was thinking of taking a drive up this winter, but my dismal financial state has nixed that untless I win the lottery also, I seem to be having more trouble driving these days. Hurts to hold the wheel and I get stiff quickly it's a shame because I used to LOVE driving... now it's just another chore. Kate I'll make sure I send you some pictures this winter then! I remember '77 now... was in my first year of college (U of R) and got caught away from home in the storm. Tried to bus it down to Charlotte where I hoped someone was waiting to drive me back to Hilton, but the buses stopped running once I hit downtown. Walked up and down main and Exchange trying to find a place to stay and all the downtown hotels were full... finally got a room (thank God I had opened a checking acount a few weeks earlier!) and had never been on my own. didn't know how to turn on the heat in the room, thought maybe the heat was out in the storm, so took the bedding from both beds to TRY to keep warm... Boy was I green back then LOL! in Hilton the year I am talking about there was a snow drift that came off the roof of our house and ran about 1/4 mile across the fields... there were lots of them up and down the road. At the end of our street once we were dug out we saw the roof of a car sticking out of a snowbank far over our heads. As the snow melted we saw that car was on top of another car, which was on another, which was on two more... not sure whether they all spun out there at the turn, now wondering if the big plows didn't pile them up there on accident... it was wierd, and kinda cool (but probably not for the car's owners!) we came out of the house through a back door we had tunneled through, climbed up to the roof, and walked the drift out to the street the day the army corps came with the big trucks. we were all cheering when we saw them off in the distance. I didn't know they MADE plows that big!!! Kate I know the places you talked about! I don't remember the winter of 77 but I know the winter of 76 was wicked. I was pregnant with Adam then. We had an ice storm that winter too. No electric or heat and I was thinking the baby was so lucky to still be inside me and nice and warm, cause I sure wasn't! If you do come up you'll have to let Deanna, and I know and we could all meet someplace. Kate I know the places you talked about! I don't remember the winter of 77 but I know the winter of 76 was wicked. I was pregnant with Adam then. We had an ice storm that winter too. No electric or heat and I was thinking the baby was so lucky to still be inside me and nice and warm, cause I sure wasn't!
