Guest guest
Nice to meet you. I am Jacquie H. Married to Jeff and we live in California. We have 3 kids, Greggory 6.5 yrs HF autistic and starting 1st grade next week , Alec moderate autism, BP, ADHD and continuing his autistic preschool class soon, and my baby Yessenia. She is 1 month old and very cranky! Glad to have you aboard. Jacquie H > Hey everyone. My name is Amie. I am wife to of 3 and a half yrs and mom to Karson(3) and Peyton(18 mos). Karson is what has brought me to meet ya'll. He was dignonsised w/ PDD when he was 17 mons--from there I got him into speech and occupational therapys. He just recently quit those one on ones and has started an ESE (Exceptional Student Education) Pre-K program. He is doing great in his classes and I really think he enjoys beings w/ other boys and girls like him. I think it is a good choice too, as all of you know how much they mimic each other and he needed to develop some social skills amongst his peers. Guest guest
Welcome, Amie! I'm glad you jumped right in! (Amie just joined a few minutes before her intro, everybody!) I think it's just amazing that Karson was diagnosed at 17 months -- so wonderful to get an early dx! Really hope you'll like it around here. It's a great group. Lots of support, lots of room to vent, and lots of laughs, too. :-) Jacquie mom to , almost 6, HFA Parenting Autism moderator

Guest guest
TY Jacquie--it's nice to meet you too. Excuse my ignorance, but what does HF autisitic mean and BP? I have never been on a mommy list that has autisic children. I don't understand alot of the abbreviations. But thanx for having me onboard--I think I'll like it here, since we all have a common thread:). Amie Re: Newbie:) Nice to meet you. I am Jacquie H. Married to Jeff and we live in California. Guest guest
Thank you Jacquie. I am glad you welcomed me in:). I always knew something wasn't right w/ Karson. He hit all his milestone late, except for walking--he nailed that one real quick--lol--and hasn't slowed down since. But by 17 months, he still wasn't saying anything and his Ped suggested at 19 months, I take him to DEI for testing. I went ahead and did it at 17 months, coz my daughter was due when he was 19 months and if he was on the Autisic spectrum, I wanted to go ahead and get his therapys underway, so it wouldn't be so hard w/ a newborn too--ya know? One thing I have always wondered tho, is if his Jaundice at birth had anything to do w/ it. He was due July 14th and born June 25th, so about 3 wks early. His biliruben level was 19.5. I mean my baby was the color of the sun--lol. I read an article in Parents or Parenting a few yrs back that sometimes babies w/ extremely high biliruben levels do become autisitc or on the autisitc spectrum. Anyone else every heard this? Thanx again for having me on tho. I can be long winded at times tho:). Amie oh PS--what does HFA mean? Re: Newbie:) Welcome, Amie! I'm glad you jumped right in! Guest guest
Hi Sue--Thanx for the welcome. You must have patience of steel to have two. Soemtimes tho, I say I would have 10 of Karson compared to 1 of my daughter, Peyton. She has my definate snotty attitude--lol and on some days can be a real pain in my butt. But she does take alot from Karson, when he is on one of his meltdowns. He can be downright mean to her, since starting school. Violent wise. I think maybe this change of school has got him, as he doesn't adjust well to change. Yesterday, we went to the Ped for his school physical and the Ped saw how awful Karson can be in public and saw a full on meltdown. He said I should medicate--I said no, thanx. At 19 months, the nero wanted to medicate and I said let's see how his OT and ST go, then well see and he straightened up. Now again, he is going through another huge change and again, they are screaming medicate. I wanna ride it out through Novemeber or December and see if he adjust. I wanted to know if any of ya'll medicate and how young and does it work? Again, got long winded:). Amie Oh, we live in Florida Re: Newbie:) Hi Amie! Guest guest
Not sure where Stuart is. We are in a small town nestled between Pensacola and Ft. Walton, it's northwest Florida or LA(Lower Alabama)--sorry, if I am not being clear to who's post I am replying to. For some reason--email from this list is going to my junk mail folder, I got that finally fixed--I think and am just trying to catch up. Hopefully by Monday, these post will be going to my inbox and I won't be left in the dark.
