Guest guest
Hi Dianne, It seems that different doctors have different restrictions post surgery. I guess also they have different restrictions for individual patients. It seems the norm that people are on crutches for 4-6 weeks post surgey, even if you start 'Non weight baring', '50%' or '100%' weight baring. I was 100% weight baring ( and i am a heavy guy) right away, and after 1 week i started using just 1 crutch, Just for balance. I was also told however, that when i am not walking, its better not to sit in a chair, and if i did, have my legs raised for the circulation. Its much better to be in the bed, where your body is flat, as blood in your legs, (from normal circulatory blood, through to any 'dead blood' from the surgey) has an easy journey through your system. So this is sound advice, and personally i would go by what your doctor says , and stick to it, even if you feel its nicer to sit in an armchair with your feet down! He knows recovery times for this surgery, and will be giving you the best advice he can. take it. good luck richie _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
