Joanne,

My heart is filled with joy to hear you so upbeat. This will truely be one holiday season we will all remember...so bittersweet it's been.

You have been thru the "valley of the shadow of death", but the sun is beginning to break thru the clouds. You have not been out of my thoughts for weeks. I even have friends going to your updates daily, or calling me about Todd's progress. There are more people than you'll ever know involved in your ordeal.

Good times ahead, and hopefully Todd will start the new year in his own bed at home!

Love you girl,

I have missed you all. I haven't been keeping up with the posts

since finding computer access has been very difficult. Now that Todd

is back in a regular room on the transplant floor it will be much

easier. I have just been beaming these past 2 days. Todd is doing

fantastic. He hasn't complained of pain since he had the seizure. I

haven't seen him this comfortable for a long time. It is so great to

hear the word GOOD when I ask him how he is feeling. My emotions are

running wild from this rollercoaster ride the past 3 weeks. I am

just so grateful. I expected it wouldn't be an easy ride, but I

never in my wildest dreams thought Todd would have to be transplanted

again. I can't begin to tell you how awful it was last Thursday

night when the critical care doctor came out to the ICU waiting room

and sat down and said, " we have done all we can do for Todd, he needs

a new liver ASAP, he has a 50/50 chance of making it through the

night. " I just sat there in shock, no tears, and no words. After he

left we all just broke down. I have never cried so hard in my life.

We all stood by his bedside (myself, his dad, stepdad, our pastor,

and my dear friend)and begged him to fight. Although he was sedated,

I know he could hear us somehow...someway. Well he is a fighter and

by the grace of God they found him a new liver from Seattle,

Washington the next day. So with the new liver and new

recontstructed hepatic artery he is a new guy. Praise the Lord!

At times I feel so lost with all the transplant meds, antibiotics,

and all the new information. I was so up to date on PSC, but this is

a whole new world. So I am sure I will be asking a lot of questions

to all of you who have been there done that in the next few weeks.

Well it is early and I am going to try to order some Christmas

presents online while all is still quiet. Happy Hannukkah to all of

those that celebrate the miracle of light.

Love you all,

Joanne (mom of 2 amazing sons and one loving daughter)

Joanne,

That’s the best news of all. I know

all too well what a struggle this has been, and I can’t tell you how

happy it makes me to hear that Todd is doing so well now. Any questions you

have about the post-Tx routine, just ask away.

Such wonderful news that Todd is doing so well, and that the rest of

you can finally take a deep breath (and maybe a decent night's

sleep). As one of those " been there done that " folks, I add my voice

to Steve's: Ask away.

Wow, what an incredible story! I'm so sorry you and your family have

had to go through this. I am relatively well-informed about PSC, but

have no idea about transplants. Well, I wish you lots of continuous

luck to get through this rough time.
