Guest guest
OMG. I am so glad he only got one. I have been in the same place, Sara. You know their somewhere you can't see them, but you think you have everything put up and whamo! So many times. Please don't feel bad. You cannot, absolutely cannot be ON 24/7. Our minds and bodies need down time. That is a fact. Guest guest
>>Your case worker is an idiot! Had to say that first. Thank you! I talked to my mom about it today and surprisingly enough she was pretty supportive...She said, " Wait a second, wait a second -- aren't you supposed to get that wavier thingie so there's someone there just to take care of him? Maybe if you had that, it wouldn't be so messy! " Hey, what a concept. The POINT of the waiver is that I CANNOT take care of this child on my own!! Inside the fish tank, on top of the bar, climbing the bookshelf, inside the oven, eating matches...Oh yes, today he PULLED THE CARPET UP OFF THE FLOOR AND STARTED EATING THE PADDING!!! *And* there's baking soda under part of it AND I already know from a past poison control call that if he eats enough baking soda it could KILL HIM. No wonder my hair is falling out!!! >>Mikey sure is a handful when it comes to getting into things. I feel for you Sara.Alec gets into things but only a few things now but there was a time when I thought I could take no more. Was that just last week?.... Thanks Jacquie...This too shall pass......right?!? RIGHT?!?! Times like this I start thanking God that ritalin is an option. Maybe we'll see the ped tomorrow... -Sara. Guest guest
>>I'd buy that book. Is Mikey ok? Are you ok? Thanks Tuna. Mikey is as OK as he gets. PC said eating one match head won't cause any problems, he would have had to eat about 20 before we worried about it. They didn't even say to have him drink water or ask if he was breathing OK...hmm, maybe next time I'll let them know what they're supposed to say. He is picking the poison control sticker off the back of the phone and eating that. Would they laugh if I called and asked if their stickers are non-toxic? I am not OK but I do appreciate your asking. I think one of us is going to go on medication but I haven't decided if it will be myself or Mikey. -Sara. Guest guest
Sara, I'm reaching this point with .. I am so tired of him taking things, eating things he's not supposed to, climbing on counters to get at the top cabinets, climbing on the short wall next to the fridge (the one with the stairway on the otherside of it if he was to fall!!!!) so he can see if we've stashed cookies on top of it! In the last 2 days, he had my sharp kitchen knives in the basement, twice!! So far he has only sliced open 2 pillows and one cushion from things they are allowed to jump on.(and not the goo furniture down there!) but we're talking my butcher and chef s knives!! What is he thinking? I'm really worried about when he finds the matches and lighter for the grill!
