Guest guest
Hi all, Tom finished his 2nd round of DMSA chelation (25mg every 4 hrs.) last Wed., and we've seen some rigid thinking/behavior come back. It started on Fri., but the real " oh my, we had forgotten about this kind of stuff " happened today in church (didn't want to participate, didn't want to leave, then wanted to do the lesson but moaned and cried a little - ugh!). He snapped out of the whole thing within 30 min. and we've had a fine day since then... like nothing happened (to him, not me!). So here's my question - anybody got a guess as to what caused this stuff to return? Metals moving around, gut bugs, depleted minerals, adjustment to chelation, something else??? Just would like to know what caused this so we can address it (or just keep going if it will get better in time). Thanks. Peace and grace, Sally, mom to Tom, 8yo dx AS but on the road to recovery Ben, 6yo NT by the grace of God Gracie, 2yo NT and unvaccinated

Guest guest
Hi we just finished round 3 of ALA only, we are seeing good improvement in language, awareness, and flexibility, except during the last day of chelation and then for the next 2 days. Side effects are increased hyperness, implusiveness, rigid behavior is an excellent description, almost OCDish, I think it's metals cause my son has never had GI problems in the past and his stools remain the same, with the same frequency...although I am going to test for yeast this week to be sure. My son had PANDAS last fall and I am concerned about this resurfacing...so reading your note helped in the sense that if there are 2 of us with the same symptoms, it probablely something common rather than a zebra, like PANDAS. The first two rounds he was better by the 3rd day, hope this helps > > > So here's my question - anybody got a guess as to what caused this > > stuff to return? Guest guest
I did not notice it with DMSA, but after we started ALA my son's reactions to supplements has changed. For example, he stopped tolerating any neorganic calcium. I would stop supplementation and see if it helps, if yes, reintroduce everything again. Guest guest
> > Could someone explain to me what " DMSA " and " ALA " stands for? Does it have to do with mercury detox? Sorry to sounds ignorant but this is all new to me. Thanks DMSA and ALA are detoxification agents. They are used for mercury detox, yes. It is okay that it is all new. You can find information about most of the unfamiliar or specialized words used on the list, here: /files/Glossary also, reading the FAQ file may help to give some context to " DMSA " and " ALA " : /files/Mercury-Autism%20FA Q regards, Moria
