I do and every ERCP I have had has saved me from more surgery. I have had either a stent put in or they have made a cut in the duct to open it more. This has helped my pancreas function a little more efficiently and produce less pain in the long run. It can result in an acute attack(my longest post ERCP was 9 days in hospital),but if they are able to perform a procedure while in there it can be worth it. I have always had Versed and Demerol to knock me out. Occasionally I wake up part way through, but they are quick to give more sedation. I am not able to remember the procedure unless I wake up before they knock me out again.It has always improved things for me in the past,once I recover from the acute attack. Hope this helps!
