Guest guest
ok well i was approved and i am still in shock or something. i talked to debbie today and will call again prolly tomorrow. i finally figured out how to download and view the patient manual which makes things a bit better as far as finding your way through the haze. but i was reading it and umm i was wondering... it mentions 65 patients to date. does that mean only 65 patients have had this surgery? and then it lists like 38% have complcations ... is that of the 65 paients? where would you fly into if you were coming from out of state. and i read somewhere along the way it mentioned several letters we have to write. are there any like guides to show us foggy-brained people. ok well goodnight everyone. too tired to think any more thougths. diana

I believe there have been 200 plus patients now. You have to have support letters from your PCP and family, a psychological evaluation, a current pap smear and mammogram if you fall in that age group and a letter from yourself explaining that you do understand all of the elements which go into this type of surgery. There is an example of a letter in the Patients Education Manual. If the manual doesn't have it, the website does and if the website doesn't, I know one of the post ops will. I spoke to the other night and she was so very helpful. I know we talked on the phone for about 2 hours. lol Rae

Guest guest
Hi All, Well..I have a few questions in regards to my recent miscarriage. I have not been back to the doctor since last Monday (12/31), but I do have another test on Friday to see if my levels have dropped. Last Friday I started a very very light period and it last for 4 days, but it was extremely light and I did not pass any tissue. I have been cramping on and off since I went to the doctor, but not too bad. The question I have is where could the tissue have gone? I am just curious because I am feeling a bit yucky today and I don't want anything to be stuck in there. I asked the doctor about the blighted ovum and he said not likely, but he said that he did want to run the other test to rule out anything " wierd. " he also siad the miscarriage was more likely due to my lining not being ready since I got pregnant so close to the other miscarriage and the surgery. Any thoughts on this? Guest guest
Suzanne, Make sure your doc does an ultrasound to see if any tissue is left in your uetrus. Also check your temp for any signs of fever and if you have a fever go get checked right away. It is not enough to only get your betas checked. If you had an incomplete miscarriage and not all the tissue came out then it may embed in there and you may have to have a D & C to get it out. The longer it stays the worse it is. Guest guest
Hi , The doc did an ultrasound on Monday and saw no tissue. I think that I will ask him again on Friday to do another one. Thanks for the info. Suzanne
Guest guest
Suzanne: I'm sorry I can't remember, how far along were you? If you were around 6 weeks I wouldn't think you would see any actual tissue passing as the embryo is smaller than a grain of rice at that point and the placenta is also small and would break down fairly easily. Were you farther along than that? If you have any doubts as to whether something might be " stuck " get an ultrasound done immediately....you don't want to have " retained products " and end up developing more scarring. Don't take any chances, get it checked out. You're not running a fever are you? (you mentioned feeling yucky) Gwen
