Hi , I really don't think these episodes are delayed dumping because

if I'm not careful with sugar I still dump and the symptoms are not at all

similar. Dumping causes an increased heart rate, nausea and tiredness for

me. This is definately not at all similar. I probably should have explained

my portions a little more carefully. I used 1 teaspoon in a half cup of

oatmeal (4g sugar) , one quarter cup of the oj I drank has 6g sugar and the

banana was about 1/2 a regular one. These portions won't normally cause

dumping for me at this point. Coupled with the fact that this will happen

even if I haven't had any sugar leads me to believe the problem is reactive

hypoglycemia. I'm going to ask my pcp about it on Friday tho to see what he

thinks is going on. Thanks for your help! Peggy N.

You can also get glucose tablets from the drugstore..they dissolve

instantly..protein never works for me either...

Peggy..

hi..<s> it's been a while!

I normally have the same symptoms you describe with a " dumping "

episode...but had been having the " low blood sugar " symptoms and they were

becoming very aggravating..I went to my doc and he was the one who told me

it was delayed dumping....for some reason..it mimics low blood sugar

symptoms...<shrug>

Just out of curiosity, I looked at the sugars in a glucose tab in the store

and it said 4grams of sugar. How could 4 grams work so fast. I figured it

would take a lot more than 4 grams to bring your levels up.

De,

I'd PREFER Necco wafers! Hahaha!

(But I carry glucose tabs in my car. They're FAST!)

It works so quickly because it is so rapidly absorbable- even in our little

pouches.

I can't get the hang of it, even now, after 5-1/2 yrs. Sometimes it

happens, sometimes not. Haven't been running around with much sugar,

though. But then, have had one episode cuz I just CANNOT leave the diet pop

alone.

Some habits you just can't break, you know?
