I do read the posts, just have not been answering much. I'm still walking, I've been feeling horrible but keep plugging away, (7miles now), I've been trying to get my son into Job Corp, which is looking pretty good; we fill out the final papers this tuesday, been going to the dr, the procedure I had done last year isn't working so well now. T he lining in my uterus is growing back and along with it the pain that I was going through before. So now I have 4 options, 1) do nothing, that is not acceptable, 2) take male hormones: get oily, acne, weight gain, facial hair, etc, 3) redo the procedure, could grow back again, or 4) hysterctomy. I was leaning towards the pills until I started reading about the side effects. Now I think I'm going for the hysterectomy. I'm suppose to call the dr this week and let him know what I've decided. Anybody have any pro and con advice on this? It would be appreciated. And I will really try to be better at responding to you all. The last thing I want to do is to hurt any of your feelings. I suffered my whole life (well since my 12th birthday) with the most severe Amen mary mike!!! I suffered my whole preteen and adult life with "female" problems until I finally bled for an entire year straight. I always think that what little I know will not help anyone. Now on your problem. Of those 3 choices.. I would go with the hysterectomy... sounds so much better. So far I'm doing good. the docs told me that the pred I took for so many years have stopped my periods. I love it... But I have never had to have a hysterectomy. Guest guest Posted September 14, 2003 Report Share Posted September 14, 2003 a C., Yup, the hour after surgery, my doc was standing across the room from the foot of my bed, writing in my chart. I wasn't supposed to wake up for 24 hours because we "fat" ladies retain the anesthetic in our fat cells and we are supposed to be harder to wake up. Ha!!! I was awake right away, thirsty as hell, and begging for ice chips. The nurses said it would make me throw up, but I said I don't throw up, and my doc, bless his heart told them to give me a tub full of ice if I'd just shut up! LOL My first words after asking for ice, were, "Free at last, free at last, Thank God Almighty, I'm free at last!" LOL I didn't care how many pillows I had to hold over my tummy to cough, either. Every time, I just laughed. The nurses thought I was a candidate for the loony ward. How ya holding up, Honey? Life can sure sock you one in the kisser sometimes, can't it? One did the medications and was ok with it. Didn't love it, but decided this was the best course of action. The other really had no other choice but to have a hysterectomy. She was devastated, did not think she could do it, especially since she was really hoping of having another child (she had one daughter). She kept postponing, hoping for some miracle to happen. Finally, she could postpone no more and the procedure was done. We were all really worried about her and anticipated the worse depression. Two months after the surgery she was completely fine, decided it was the best decision under the circumstances. It has now been about 6 years and she is fine physically and in mind. I think you have to figure out what is the best decision for you and then don't look back. I know it's easier said than done, but what else can you do? Mojo Hello All How is everybody doing? I certainly enjoyed the chat last night, and once again I learned so much. I'm in the caregivers side as well and when I got on I had over 200 emails. I may not be able to keep up with both sides. Gee you guys have been busy. It was so fun listening to you all last night. The doc wasn't encouraging. He increased the chemo. However the xrays have stayed the same. Good news right? I know that he is giving up. Sigh! I'm so glad that one of the conversations last night covered anger, from Joany and Joe (spelled right?) Got ready to go to bed and that anger popped out of him. Now because he had such a bad night and day, he was really tired - that could have been it. However someone last night - can't remember who - said just let the anger pop and ignore it and give them space. Amazing that is the first I've seen and you guys had me covered. See what support groups can do? This is the first I've ever been in. Ugh! I hate that I need it. Well, I'm rambling. You guys are like family and it has only been 5 days. Good that you were able to just let him be angry. I hear how hard this is on you and again, I'm sorry you have to deal with this heart-wrenching situation. I'm sure though that the caregivers are helpful to you. Some are bound to have walked where you are walking now. I hope you don't expect not to hurt or not to be afraid or not to be confused. But, the group has grown to the point that I cannot remember what about who sometimes. I say that to be able to ask you what may be repetitive questions. Has Don been evaluated for transplant. Even the evaluation is an excellant source of medical info. Has he been to a really good center for Interstitial Disease. I was evaluated at Jewish in St. Louis and I think that may be relativly close to you all. It is 4 hours for me. What about seeing a different pulmo just for a second opinion? This doc you are seeing sounds a little "doom and gloom." The fact that Don is stable should have been a reason for rejoicing. Stable is a GOOD thing. I am in end stage, but they tell me I am stable. I am thankful when I hear that word. This is a fine line that you walk in being a caregiver. From my point of view when my husband tries to see the positive side of things, sometimes I take it as him downplaying the severity of the situation. Poor guy (and poor you) he just gets my angry outbursts and all he is trying to do is encourage me. So, try to understand that when he becomes angry, he is not really angry with you.....he is angry that his control over his own body is totally gone! The monster has taken over and that is beyond frustrating. Your job is to "just take it" and love him anyway. Thinking of you both. I'm not sure he would be in favor of that anyway. I talk about all you you guys a lot. Thank you. I think the doc is reflecting our gloom and doom. Normally he is pretty good. Don is really down and I can't seem to help him beyond this. I will start talking on the caregivers board. St. Louis is 4 hours for us too. Where are you? I am thankful when I hear that word. This is a fine line that you walk in being a caregiver. From my point of view when my husband tries to see the positive side of things, sometimes I take it as him downplaying the severity of the situation. Poor guy (and poor you) he just gets my angry outbursts and all he is trying to do is encourage me. So, try to understand that when he becomes angry, he is not really angry with you.....he is angry that his control over his own body is totally gone! The monster has taken over and that is beyond frustrating. Your job is to "just take it" and love him anyway. Thinking of you both.
