So my birthday is Friday. Nada sent a package a couple of days ago. My

'gift' was a book entitled `Why a Daughter needs a Mom- 100 Reasons'. You

can find it on amazon here if you want to have a couple of laughs.

It's one of those totally sappy, cheesy, manipulative things with a page

each with a cutesy picture and some saying such as " A daughter needs a mom

to provide her with memories that will last for generations! " Hah. I'm sure

the author had no idea how right that is O.o Nada and I haven't spoken in

almost a year, it's another not so subtle attempt to make everything about

her.

Also in the package was a copy of the DVD from THE WIZARD OF OZ!!!!! lol! I

burst out laughing when I saw it. She has no idea how appropriate that movie

is. She sent some note about all of the 'great times' that I had watching it

with her as a kid. I don't remember ever watching it with her? WTF? I just

thought it was hilarious considering all of the paralels we talk about on

this list.

I'm actually having a harder than usual time with the holidays and my

birthday this year, and this package got me down at first, but I'm working

to see the humor and irony in it all. It's good that the package came when

it did, I was starting to fall into the trap of 'missing' nada and thinking

I should give her a call. It's good to have that reminder that she is

incapable of change or seeing anyone's needs but her own.
