Thinking of Others

Hi All

When posting to the group, please try to avoid using abbreviations.

Type words out in full. Type doctor instead of dr. Primary Care instead

of P.C.P. Pain management instead of pm or p.m.

We have many people in our group who are vision impaired. Some of them

use computer software to read the posts aloud to them. Many of the

abbreviations are unreadable by the software programs.

A lot of members are not even bothering to put the appropriate periods

in their abbreviations. When that happens, some of the Voice Readers

cannot tell that the abbreviation is actually an abbreviation. These

are programs, they don't have the ability to guess at what something means.

For example: PCP is a recreational drug. P.C.P. stand for Primary Care

Physician. That's quite a difference. Better to type what you mean out

in full and be done with it. It will save a lot of confusion and

frustration for some of our members.

Also please use the word “and” rather than using the ampersand ( & ).

Again, this is something that messes with some of the " read aloud " software.

Please think of others when you type. Not everyone is blessed with good

eyesight.

Thanks!
