Guest guest
Well it depends on your basis of why you want this surgery.. How bad is your actual health? And does your doctor just say you need to lose weight or are there weight-related conditions caused by your weight (otherwise is it really medically necessary or more of a want v/s a need)... If you are unemployed, is it due to the inability to work, or is it just your preference? The reason I ask, is if you go to your local Welfare office, they might ask you why you're not working.. Just because you're a student, doesn't automatically qualify you for assistance. In fact, in some cases it goes against you.. (Personally, I would know from experience.) I was working part-time (did not make much and everything I made went out on diapers, formula, care for my infant, rent, car insurance, etc.,) I had a newborn, and was attending school full-time and I was turned down for welfare because I had student loans.. The money went solely on books and transportation but it went against me.. I was told by the Welfare that I have too much potential, and that I could do better than the vastly populated under-educated that apply.. So I'm just informing you of my experience.. You can still try though. You can apply for Disability, but usually it's granted on the basis of your mental or physical health and inabilities and difficulties in daily activities.. (Otherwise you cannot work based on your present health condition). Welfare doesn't grant just anyone assistance.. Do you have dependents at home? I hate to come off negative, and I may get attacked for this response, but you may indeed, be asking for some type of miracle.. But it doesn't hurt to try.. I will tell you though, now I am on Disability, have Medicare, and fortunately because of my low-income qualify for Medicaid. That's my second carrier.. It may work out for you too.. I hope it does g/f. Good Luck on your journey.. Greer
