Guest guest
Al- There are several very qualified doctors here in the United States that are doing hip resurfacing (or BHR as it's known in Europe)! A good place to start your investigation is at www.jri-oh.com and www.activejoints.com. Most orthopedic doctors here don't know much about it because it is in the FDA investigational trial phase. However, if you do your homework you can figure out what doctors are doing hip resurfacing and if you are persistant you can hook up with one or more of them and see if you are a candidate for this procedure. It's more work than going to your local orthopedic surgeon and having a total hip replacement, but I believe it is worth it in the long run. Finding a doctor to do it here in the USA is the easy part, but what you are really going to have fun with is convincing your insurance company that they should cover the procedure! You just have to be persistant and willing to jump through alot of hoops. (That was my experience anyway...) Good luck- Ann surfacehippy wrote: > Hi Richie, > Thank you very much for all that information on BHR vs THR.
