Guest guest
hello everyone...so glad i stumbled onto this group. i had thr of left hip in aug 1995 and am a candidate for thr of right hip now...my doc (in baltimore, maryland) is beginning clinical trials for a metal on metal resurfacing procedure...i have done a bit of research and found that the procedure is fairly uncommon here in the states as opposed to the uk and other countries outside the u.s....i am naturally a bit skeptical of all the good things that i have been reading over the net...i am 51 and was very active prior to my first thr but have never regained the prior level of activity since the surgery probably because if wanted to keep the mileage low to avoid revision surgery which does not sound very enticing...i am fearful that if i have the other replaced that i am resigning myself to a life of relative inactivity more befitting someone 15-20 years my elder...hence, i am considering shr instead...wish i had been presented with this option the first time around but that spilt milk at this point...i don't have any questions at this point as i have an appt with my surgeon next week to review the pros and cons...i am sure he will be pressuring me to go with the resurfacing because he wants to publish a paper and possibly patent his procedure... good to meet you all and good health to everyone... richdad
