I am absorbing all of this (ha ha), first thought would be though, if he is not absorbing/digesting his food properly, for whatever reason, wouldn't this mean the food would not be converted into body fat like it is being? Or do you mean it is being 'incorrectly' absorbed and then deposited 'in the wrong places'?

Would I notice a change in bowel motions or anything?

I held back half of 's meds this morning, had his usual downill slide after having them, but not as dramatic, then gave him his 'first' lunch at 11.30 am. (4 hrs after morn meds). We waited for the usual cognitive decline, ataxia, etc, but it was barely noticeable-definitely some change, but nowhere near as bad.

This would tell me (I think!!!) that there was not as much medication as usaual floating around to be 'upped' somehow, following a meal. Gave the other half of his meds at 1 pm (neuro had previously suggested this to try and prevent the toxic effect he gets from having them all at once), and his next meal was at 3 pm, 2 hours later. Definitely more 'off', drooling, ataxic etc, than after the 11.30 am meal, and the only difference was the spacing of the meds before eating, same meal etc, 2 hrs, vs 4 hrs.

But his usual 'bright' patch that usually comes about 5 pm onwards, has not happened; again, this would have to be because his meds were boosted at luchtime. Yes????

I will try the same tomorrow, and see if I can get a pattern.

If I'm not convinced it is the meds, I will restart regular glucose monitoring (out of strips), if that doesn't help me, I will look at the digestive enzymes, this was on my 'to try list' re the night seizures anyway,

Thanks for the ideas and yes, Patti, please carry on with throwing in your thoughts, much appreciated,

Hill

Re: abdomen seizures-Saro-after meals

/Patty/Sara and every-one

or...............the addition of meds or the meds period could have started a digestive problem. How can he gain weight on a lower calorie level unless his digestion has been hindered.

Why not (I'm whispering here) try a digestive aid and see if it aids in proper absorption and speed of digestion?

Diane
