Guest guest
Dear suface hippies, I thought I would update everyone on my progress and evaluation at the six month point. The last 6 weeks my hip has felt really good. I had some muscle problems in the four to five month range. A lot of aches and pains. It has really felt good lately. I slowed down on the running for about 3 weeks to let the muscle tissue heal. I started running again about two weeks ago and I don't have any stiffness at all. I can only run about 1 1/2 miles before the muscle gets a little tired. I will continue to run some to stretch out my capsule. The brisk walking has been really good for the hip. I highly recommend this to everyone. Dr Schmalzried encouraged me to do a lot of brisk walking before attempting any running. He was right. The old saying you have to walk before you run is definitley true. My golf game improved I have started to hit the ball much further than I did before. My scores have been better this last 6 weeks than anytime in my life. I shot 77, 78, 80 and 78 in consecutive weeks. Before that I have only shot in the 70's once in my life. I feel today I am about 75 to 80 percent of where I want to be. I continue to stretch daily and I use the stairmaster and treadmill four time a week. Well if anyone has questions let me know. I can tell you things just keep getting better. I am very happy that I chose a surface replacement. Mike

Guest guest
I had surgery on April 9th and played my first round of golf on Father's day June 17th. I can tell you that the hip will just keep getting stronger. Start out easy and things will keep inproving every week. Mike
