Guest guest
Hey all: Well, I went in for my first beta today and was having such bad abdominal pain that I pleaded with the receptionist to put me on the schedule and she squeezed me in and I'm so glad that I did. I saw the nurse practitioner who is just great and she listened to my history and immediately did a pelvic and I had no pain at all in the uterine/ovary area at all....what I am having is BELLY pain. And some of it is quite severe. And, it turns out, I have been running a fever and didn't realize it. She thinks that I have a case of food poisoning or a stomach virus or something that is working it's way through my system and that is the cause for the cramping and pain. Sure enough, I have an AWFUL bought of diarrhea tonight (sorry for the detail) and felt almost immediately better afterwards. I am having some more cramping and pain tonight, but it has been associated with a lot of intestinal rumblings and gas as well so I bet there is another episode in my near future. But what a relief to have the pelvic and have her push and prod and feel no pain where she was pushing and prodding. She also told me (like you wonderful women here) that women with ectopic pregnancies usually are symptom-free at this stage except some may have some slight spotting. Women with ectopics don't have severe cramping or pain like I have been having unless their ectopic is undiagnosed and their tube actually ruptures which normally doesn't happen until 8 weeks or so. I am 18 days since conception which only puts me a day or two into my 5th week. (I am 6 weeks from last menstrual period today, but because my cycle was a 32 day cycle you have to " subtract out " those extra 4 days in order to get an accurate pregnancy age) So, long and short of it is that my cramping seems to be intestinal and it's just a case of poor timing that I found out I am pregnant a day before I came down with this stomach flu or food poisoning or whatever it is....so I'm drinking extra fluids and taking it easy and it should resolve in a few days. I feel so much better knowing what is going on. I go back in for my second beta on Monday morning. Still no results from today's beta, probably won't get them until next week. Sleeping with a bra on my chest hurts so much....waves of nausea but now think it may be this stomach bug and not morning sickness afterall.... Anyway, thank you all so much for the supportive and informative posts. I don't know what I would do without you guys!! Gwen
