Guest guest
Back in October when I had the early miscarriage or " chemical pregnancy " or whatever you want to call it, my initial beta test showed a whopping 11.1 I think.... This time, my initial beta was 235! MUCH improved huh?! The nurse really infuriated me when she called though, she said " Well, it was pretty low. " So I said.... " Well, it might be low to you, but considering that in my last pregnancy my initial beta was 11, I am THRILLED with 235! Besides which, seeing as that beta was drawn at less than three weeks gestation, 2 weeks and 4 days to be exact, my research would indicate that a beta of 235 is well within the normal range for that gestational age. " To which she sputtered something about it having been 37 days since my last period which would be indicative of an embryo more than three weeks old after which I pointed out to her that I am a " late ovulator " and despite having started my last period on Nov. 22nd, I did not ovulate until the 10th of December so I had that beta drawn only 2 weeks and 4 days after conception... I wanted to then yell " SO SHUT UP!! " But she was, by then, back- pedaling quite handily with " Oh - well if it was that early then this is just what we would expect for a number, you are right. " Yes, I know. It really is quite frustrating to be better educated about my reproductive health than the medical professionals that are supposed to be charged with my care.... So, I will post as soon as I have results from my second beta. I also have my " new OB " visit schedule for next Monday on the 7th so I will post with any news when I have it. Take care all and Happy New Year to EVERYONE!! Gwen Now, we just have to see if it is doubling. I had another beta draw on Monday (New Year's Eve) but the lab closed before they processed my draw (they closed early for the holiday.) The nurse promised to call me tomorrow with my results - so let's hope they are well over 500!!
