Guest guest
Mike, Hi! I am Pre-op but have been squirreling away ideas for after surgery! (I am confident that I will be approved this time!!!!!) I make a shake with : 1/2 carton of frozen silken tofu (I freeze them as I need them and just cut the carton either in 1/2 or in Fourths) 1 banana 1/2 cup frozen berries( ask Dr R about little seeds)( I have been known to strain them out with a strainer:) 1-2 scoops Designer Protein(Only cause it dissolves well) and a splash of juice of choice (to make it blend well) I usually start with the juice and then the protein, tofu, and fruit. I use this as a basic and use the tofu and protein as the basis and then work from there. The tofu takes on the flavor of what you mix it with and could probably be mixed with the coffee but I have not tried it. These amounts would fill the blender so think about that when you mix it. I do just set the blender in the fridge and " snack " as needed. There are many tofuesque things I make but none as are savory. I wonder if you mixed one of the flavored broths like swansons with the tofu if you would get a " cream soup? " Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..............the hubby is leaving for a couple of days maybe I will work on it and let you know! I need to work towards that anyway, I will get sick of the sweet stuff quick. Oh I do not know if you like yogurt but the Yoplait Custard style is very satisfying in the texture department. It is like a pudding almost! Hope this is helpful:) Paige > >Reply-To: MiniGastricBypassonelist >To: " Minigastricbypass " <MiniGastricBypassonelist> >Subject: Post-Op Meds, Supplements and Liquids >Date: Tue, 27 Jul 1999 05:13:20 -0400 > > > >I am one week post-op, with surgery with Dr. R on 7/21. > >I have been religious so far about sticking with the full regimen of meds, >supplements and liquid diet. Guest guest
Hi Paige, I go for my life altering transformation on Monday Aug.2. I've ordered a juicer so I can make my own juices, thought they'd be a little tastier than store bought prepared juices. But your idea with the tofu, fruit and protein sounds absolutely delicious! Thank you so much for the idea! I was a little worried about how to get enough protein out of the liquids, but the tofu is a great idea! Keep up the good food ideas! Do you do anything else with the tofu? I've never eaten a lot of it, but it does take on the taste of whatever you mix it with so I would really like any ideas you have on the subject! Thanks Tina SD-Aug.2 only 6 days away! Yikes! I tried to stop by to see you at the hospital Mike, but your door was shut and I didn't want to disturb you! Hope things are going well for you! Guest guest
Hi Tina!, LOL Most people ICK! at the idea of the tofu thanks for the reinforcement!lol I also mix it with jello, i use a carton of Tofu instead of the cold water. It tastes a bit like jello with whipped cream. I think it is so easy to use, I am always messing around trying to get it into my diet! I am a big meat eater so I try to cut back by getting my protien with the tofu. I know there are packaged foods that you can get at health food stores that are to be used with the tofu. They even have Tofu Helper LOL The tofu pudding is really good. I always suggest the silken tofu soft for most of these or if you are using a firmer tofu blend it awhile in the blender to make the consistancy smoother. I was thinking I could play this weekend while the hubby is gone, he does not get into experimentation LOL I also have made Dim Sum or Chinese dumplings with tofu I add like shrimp to my large food processer and then add the tofu and let it blend and add lemon and ginger or a little orange juice concentrate and then stuff the dumplings and steam 'em. I love Dim Sum but that daggone bamboo steamer is a pain to clean LOL Have fun playing with the recipes, they are just ideas so go to town with the variations! Have fun !Paige > >Reply-To: MiniGastricBypassonelist >To: MiniGastricBypassonelist >Subject: Re: Post-Op Meds, Supplements and Liquids >Date: Tue, 27 Jul 1999 09:56:34 -0400 > > > >Hi Paige, > >I go for my life altering transformation on Monday Aug.2. Guest guest
, Nope, but if Dr R is ready to do another web page on the site I think that would be a great idea! I think that we would all benefit but I think it could help others if it were permanent instead of just posted I think the doc is busy for the time being, but we could put it up for discussion, right guys?????
