Guest guest
Hi DR R, I had my Tummy Tuck on the 20th of July and everything went well. I have been up and moving since the next day. I am very swollen but my Doctor says that should go away in about a month. This Friday I hope to get all 160 stitches out. Thankyou again for all the help and advice that you have given to me. Guest guest
Dr. R; I'm still here, my PCP is waiting until my new oral diabetes med kicks in to refer me. He is Dr. Bhushan and is committed to helping me get insurance approval! I have Optimum Choice HMO and was denied 3 years ago for the open rny. I am keeping a file of all the great information on the boards and will be " armed and dangerous " when the time comes to deal with the insurance devils. Thanks for thinking of me! Guest guest
Hi Doc, All seems ok here. I started back to work yesterday..really surprised at how little energy I have. half day yesterday and today. Still have some soreness on the lower sides. Bowels and bladder working good. A little burping/belching is still annoying, and doesn't feel good either. Went to PCP Monday. He was pleased with results and my condition. As of this morning, 16 pounds lost. Incisions itching.....good sign. No problems with reflux. Am able to sleep on my side now. Bill
Guest guest
Thanks for asking the question Cheryl but actually... Dr R I'm supposed to start now and take it for 2 weeks before I quit smoking. And then take it for 5 more weeks. The chances of success decrease if you stop taking it in the middle. And because I only have 16 more days I wondered if I should start now? karen

Guest guest
I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. I've never had the gout, but my father did and I know it is a miserable condition. It's fun going through the closet...at least until you have to throw away the custom-made hart shaftner and marx stuff that set you back a month's pay. Oh, well... Keep up the good work. Guest guest
Hi Doc, I guess I am doing so well and feeling so good that I keep too busy to bother you. My weight loss has slowed down a lot, but i'm not preoccupied with my weight so much any more. I think I've lost only 2 lbs in the past 3 weeks. I am down to 227 from my preop weight of 320. I stopped taking anything with tylenol in it, remember I had been taking tylenol pm which was leading to elevated liver enzynes? My PCP Rx me a sleeping med called ambien 5mg, it helps me to fall asleep rather quickly and I don't feel druged out the next day so I feel better and have a lot more energy. Guest guest
Dear Dave, Way to go, man!!!! You are an inspiration to us all...... I know this won't help much but (my daughter who had surgery with Dr. R on June 1 is having similar problems. Prilosec taken about 30 minutes before she eats her " larger " (relatively speaking) meal for the day seems to help as does Mylanta Supreme. We also put Beano in anything we cook that might cause gas problems......

There have been others here that had surgery elsewhere and they will tell ya... we don't discriminate... we ALL have had enough discrimination in our lives.... Guest guest
Beano is a liquid solution found in grocery stores, sometimes with the spices and condiments, sometimes by the vegetable (bean) section.....appropriate huh!? You add a drop or two to gas producing foods before eating or while it's cooking (depends on the dish I think). It is supposed to reduce the formation of gas....don't know how or why, but it sure works for my husband and most of my relatives in Louisiana use it (it's almost mandatory when all the Tex-Mex and Cajun dishes come into play). Your grocery store manager should know where in the store it is located. It can't hurt to try it...I think it's less than $3.00 a bottle.......I haven't had much problem with that and haven't cooked enough at home (boy will I have to mend my ways now that school is starting....) to have bought any in a while. Good luck. Let me know if you find it and if it helps.

Guest guest
Ellen How's it going? I see that you have lost some more weight. You may or may not know that my surgery is scheduled for Oct 11th but, I am attempting to get it moved to Oct 4th. Have you heard from Barbara lately? I hope that she is doing better. Maybe I will call her before the week is out. Send up a prayer for me.
