Caitlin,

I did not have endometreosis but I did have other female problems that led to a

hysterectomy. I also have a degenerative disc problem in my lower back. For

some reason I decided that after I had the hysterectomy my back problems would

just mysteriously go away and I'll feel better.

Well, they were two very different problems and fixing one didn't help the

other. Now I don't know if endometreosis is the same pain that I had prior to

my surgery but my only advise is this - make completely sure before you do

anything about the endo or the back problem that you can identify which problem

is causing the most pain and which problem is the most serious and needs

immediate attention.

Knowing what I know now, I might have just gone forward with back surgery and

tried to postpone a hysterectomy for another 5-10 years if possible. I know our

problems aren't exactly the same but the similarity is that you do also have two

very different problems in the

same area. Seek all of the medical advice that you can before you do anything

serious. Hope this helped at all.

Write back if you ever consider hysterectomy and I can go into more detail with

you.

Does anyone here have endometreosis? Have you ever had such a painful

period you thought you herniated a disc in your back?

I have had this, I had surgery in Sep and had everything removed.

My uterus stayed swollen. The good news is the pain is better, the bad is I

still have pain in my lt side and my back.

Try a heating pad.

I'm having severe mid/lower back pain and spasms. But I also started

my period and week and a half early and have been having bad

endometrial pain in my abdomen.

Yes, Caitlin, I had endometriosis. I had abdominal, and horrid back

pain too.

It got to the point where I was lucky to have one week out of a month when I

felt human. I already had all the children I wanted, so even though I was 30 I

had a hysterectomy.

The way to confirm endometriosis used to be a by laparoscopy, but it's been more

than 20 years now, so maybe they have something less invasive now.

Good luck

Caitlin,

Yes, I had it and I had it controlled with Lupron injections which

dried it up and then I would be able to do okay for a long period of

time.

I also went on a medication called Danocrine but it had very bad side

effects and I do not advise that. I had tissues that endometriosis

detached and attached it to all areas of my abdomen and I would have

severe pain that felt as if it was ripping out my back muscles.

After I had my son, it got better but I eventually had a hysterectomy

that left me " free at last " . The lupron helped me most.

Bennie,

How would you equate your endometrial pain compared to the pain/spasming your

having from the SI joint and lower back stuff?

I'm having a hard time distinguishing between the two!

Thanks,

Caitlin
