Guest guest
Hi Pam! Try contacting your area Arthritis Foundation. They should be able to help you with locating support groups, and might be able to point you in the direction of local drs.

Guest guest
Hi, Do you have a copy of the pre-op diet. That is the best way to lose the weight. You will drop the weight very quickly. It will also help you to get ready for surgery. You really have to modify your eating eating habits before surgery because it makes it so much easier after surgery. There are less battles to fight with temptation. The thing is to lose as much weight as possible before your surgery. Also try not to fall back on old habits it is so easy to slide backwards. You have to get into the mentality that you are going to do it because it is for you and your health. Drink lots of water that also helps alot and exercise. Water aerobics is the best form of exercise to do. You weigh so much lighter in water. Another thing is that if you have already been approved for the program they won't take away the approval just because you have lost weight. That was said in one of the case management meeting that I went to. Ramona
Guest guest
Darlene What did your doctor give you to help you lose the weight you are losing? I seem to be having a terrible time losing my 30 lbs. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks
Guest guest
Darlene boy do you bounce back well. Welcome I don't post much I am on another site spotlighthealth.com so my energy goes there I've been with them for almost 2 years. I am post op and I attend the 3rd Saturday meeting at 9:30 am. I love the program that Kaiser offers to us. I feel so good about losing pretty much effortlessly, I do exercise at gym and I do water aerobics 3 times a week. Maybe we can meet at post op meetings when you get there. New Hi my name is Darlene and I live in the Galt area and I am new to the list.I have gone to orientation at SSF, seen the dietitian, and the psychologist. Have seen Dr. Meyerowitz. I was told to lose 30 pounds, so I am working on that. I go see Dr. Meyerowitz on Feb. 4, I hope he will give me a date for surgery. The most I have weighed is 328 pounds. I went in and I weighted 302, (Dec 3) then the emotions went crazy. At case management 307 (Dec 7) I decided not to start new life style changes until after Christmas so I bloomed to 311 on Jan 1, 2003. I am now down to 292. I am thankful that Dr. Tabakin gave me a few things to work on and they really helped, everyone in South San Francisco are very helpful.I also have been this month to two case management's one in SSF and South Sac.ThanksDarlene
Guest guest
Welcome, Darlene! I'm in Elk Grove, so we're almost neighbors! I'm going to Pacific Bariatric in February for pre-op appointments, then will be scheduled a month or two later. Laurie W. Guest guest
I didn't take any medicine, but the Doctor had me write an exercise, a good bye letter to food. I realized that I thought of food as love, comfort. My mother had rewarded me with food, comforted me with food, we had big family gathering that was always center on food. I had to write a good bye letter to food. (1) I had to tell food why I loved it so and what a great thing it was to me. (2) why I was angry at food (3) good bye to food. That sounds simple, but it wasn't really. But it worked for me. After that I just got on the 1,200 calorie plan they gave me. If you make good choices there is really a lot of food you can eat. Dr. Tabakin gave me a couple of other exercises to do. I hope this will help you. If you know of some of your triggers, try and write about, maybe it can help you too. Guest guest
Hi Tammy, take it from one who has advanced to cream soups and puddings, it was well worth it! I also had my surgery 1 week ago today. I went through a short 'why did i do this?' phase a couple of days ago, when the pain was bad. But now that i haven't taken a pain med in 2 whole days, and I got to eat my first scrambled egg, I feel much better. My family just finished their dinner. I won't goi into details, but it smelled great, and contained foods I cannot have for at least 6 months. Sure, I feel a little bummed that I cannot ingest that inviting smell, but geez, I need to keep my goal in mind, and now that I have the tools to get there, I am much better off. Feel better soon, I know you will! bill g > Hi, my name is Tammy and I just joined the group. I had surgery one > week ago today.
