Guest guest
When I first started seeing the Rheumatologist it was for the diagnosis of fibromyalgia following a failed back surgery and numerous other therapies to try to help. I am now taking Vicodin, Neurontin and Celexa daily and wear a Fentanyl patch which I change every three days. Lately I've noticed that on the third day of the patch, when it starts wearing off, I have a newer more intense pain than the ones that I originally had when diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. My legs ache from the spot above my knees, through my knees, down my shin bones into my ankles and tops of feet. They ache terribly bad and will not stop even with the Vicodin. The Neurontin helps some but the patch is all that stops it. I wonder if I didn't have the patch just how bad it would really be. I've mentioned it to the doctor but he just excuses it as fibro pain. Does anyone else experience this type of pain and do you have a diagnosis for it other than fibromyalgia? I'm wondering if it's some type of neuropathy and why it would have just recently started. He excuses the pain as weight related and says that the knee and ankle pain would be better if I lose weight. I hope that's true. However, I only really need to lose about 40 pounds so I don't know if it would make that much difference. Also, it's not just in the knees and ankles. It starts above the knees and runs the entire length of the muscles and tendons all the way down to the tops of my feet. Even the sides of my ankles ache. Does anyone else experience this pain and is it just fibro pain? Robyn
