Guest guest
My daughter was diagnosed as having a kidney reflux after one urinary tract infection. After her one infection, our ped. had a VCUG and an ultrasound done. Ashely had to be catheterized(?)but it wasn't a horror story like I have read about on this list, at least s wasn't. It was uncomportable for her and she did cry, but we didn't have to do anything like lay on a board with extremities held down. I was right there with her and helped which I think helped her know her mom was right there. Once the catheter was in, she didn't cry anymore. She wimpered but I think that was because during a VCUG she has to be still and there is a machine like an xray machine close to her chest and bottom area. I never regretted having it done. I wish the tests would have said she didn't have a reflux but it confirmed the UTI that she had. I think it is better to be safe than sorry. My opinion.
