Dear ,

I would disagree with you where you state:-

BRYANT WROTE:-

" Cement was wrongly blamed for osteolysis in the past when in fact the major

culprit is/was polyethelene liners/cups. "

I have documentation which states that on cemented METAL / METAL

replacements (ie.....no polythene present) dating back to over 20 years ago,

there are signs of osteolysis, infact some prostheses having to be removed

because of this.

Curiously with metal / metal prostheses that were not cemented, and screwed

in to place, there were .... " NO " .... signs of osteolysis and are fiting

perfectly, with very little wear after 26 years plus!

if i have time tonight when i am home, i will check my notes & i will give

you the exact reference, life time and model of prostheses.

richie
