Hi Ken,

Since it looks like my tagline, I'll answer. In case you encounter

any more common abbreviations, in the Database section on the group

web page, you can find a database of many common abbreviations.

Additional information about some of these (MELD, for example) is

listed on the psc-literature.org website.

MELD - Model for End Stage Liver disease - refers to the objective

score that is computed using lab values to rank adult candidates for

liver transplantation. Lab values include INR (blood clotting)

Bilirubin and Creatinine.

Listed Ltx - Listed for liver transplant

HE Heptatic encephalopathy (Nasty symptom of end stage liver disease

where you get confused and your memory becomes impaired and it can

eventually lead to coma. This is a very simplified description - more

info. on the psc-literature.org website.)

I know it seems strange to new people, but I think sharing things

like this helps people know where I'm coming from with this disease

when they read my posts. Knowing that I have HE might make them more

forgiving if I ramble or if I totally miss the point, for example.

Keep asking your questions!

Deb in VA

PSC 1998, UC 1999, Listed Ltx 2001, HE 1/2005, MELD 18
