Guest guest
I am resending this notification because I neglected to mention what is probably the most important information: Florida Families Against Restraint and Seclusion started this bill process 3 years ago. They are working together with the Advocacy Center to make sure this terrible abuse is stopped forever! Many of you have seen my posts and accolades with respect to the work they have done, not only in Florida but at the federal level. Phyllis Musemeci and many other parents whose children have been abused and whose lives and familes have been affected forever, have worked tirelessly to get this legislation crafted and passed. Let's support them and come together as a community to stop this forever. If legislation can pass to stop abuse of pets and animals, surely we can work to stop the same type abuse of our developmentally disabled children. Please try and make it to the Hilton on Glades in Boca, on Thursday, August 27 between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. Meet Rep. Dorothy Hukill, the sponsor of our legislation and let her know how many families are advocating to pass this legislation and make it law! Respectfully, Goldstein K. Dorothy Hukill, our Sponsor of Legislation to Stop Restraint and Seclusion of Disabled Children in our Schools! Did your child ever come home with a black and blue mark, or scratches and red marks? And they can't tell you how it happened, or how long they were in a secluded 'time out' or even worse, 'restrained'? Is your child becoming more aggressive and you suspect it is because of events happening at school, but you can't get any answers? You are not alone. Many children have been hurt, and worse have died, after prone restraint. It has become a problem across the country. Unfortunately the federal government has many other issues to deal with and have not made this a priority. We in Florida think it should be. Many families have joined together to stop this abuse and have been working with the Advocacy Center to stop it. It's time to pass laws to regulate these common practices in our schools. WE MUST BRING OUT THE TROOPS AND SHOW OUR SUPPORT! Please, come and meet the sponsor of this legislation, Representative Dorothy Hukill (who has one more year in Tallahassee and is running for Congress). She wants to hear about your experiences. Let her know how very important this legislation is to all families of children with special needs, in Florida and across the country. Please take some time out of your busy to come and support this cause and thank Rep. Hukill. She is visiting from Daytona to meet with us and secure support. Please see the attached invitation or Click the link to view invite and RSVP online. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=139287695521 & ref=mf Your attendance is important and appreciated!Regards, Goldstein K.
