Cate,

According to the McMinn BHR manual and Video, (at the time of making the

video) there has never been a case of femoral component loosening.

They give the idea that it may be possible that the femoral comp may loosen

in the future because it is cement rather than HA Ingrowth.

I think that the doc in amsterdam was refering to something along the lined

of 'Bone atrophy 'under the femoral cap. I guess that in the long term this

bone may well weaken as the weight loading is transfered to where the cement

is in contact with the bone under the cap, rather than on the top of it,

where it should be.

That and acetabular loosening, and the " well attached acetabular component "

being difficult to revise seem to be the main reasons they do not use it.

Maybe they will be right, maybe not.

What i do know is that they are the best hip hospital in holland, and

Holland

is one of the most medically advanced countried in the world, certainly one

of the best health systems i have ever seen.

who knows, but whatever the reason, even if does fail, we still have an easy

Primary THR afterwards right...

take care cate,

Richie
