Guest guest
Following on from my hyst. I've now had a second cycle..... At cd 28 I stopped taking the oestrogen for 7 days (as my Dr advised me to do - 21 days on and 7 days off) and had no flow at all so I assumed that my cervix had blocked completely, however today on day 43 I've just started what seems like a very light flow. I have never in all my years had a 43 day cycle. Could this be caused by the oestrogen? Should I stop taking the oestrogen for 7 days again? I feel very confused, emotional and my back hurts - I'm sure that I have endometriosis - but I will check when I see my Dr on my follow-up appointment on 7th December. (I think several ladies have appts on this date.) Thanks for listening. I really appreciate your advice and apologise for not being as active a member as I should be. Regards, Louiza PS It's my daughters b'day on Sunday and although it's obviously a very happy time, I just feel so emotional about it all.........I'm sure you all understand. -- _______________________________________________ 1 cent a minute calls anywhere in the U.S.! http://www.getpennytalk.com/cgi-bin/adforward.cgi?p_key=RG9853KJ & url=http://www.\ getpennytalk.com
Guest guest
Hello ladies, I go in for my lap/hyst tomorrow morning. My surgeon gave me "all the right" answers Monday, when I grilled him. He said that the ultrasounds show endometrium. When he gets in there he will evaluate and determine if I need the catheter balloon, and follow up hormones. One thing he said is that since we plan to do injections for conception that that should help my lining greatly, as long as there is good healthy endometrium. He said that he does not ever us a laser unless it's just impossible to remove in any other way. In my case, it looks like I have one 8 mm band of synachae and he is hoping that the microscissors will do all that needs to be done. Anyway, I felt better about things after my intensive questioning the other day. So, now, I just have to get through the next two days and I can move on to the next step. Again, I am so thankful for each of you wonderful, kind sharing women. I hope that as I walk this long mile (or miles) that my story can help others, too. Guest guest
Louiza: Didn't your doctor give you progesterone to " force " a period after the estrogen? You should have had 20 days of estrogen FOLLOWED by 10 days of progesterone to cause the period? Without the progesterone it is VERY LIKELY that your period would take a long time to arrive (until your elevated estrogen level due to the pills had a chance to drop.) Let me see if I can explain...in a normal cycle your estrogen level rises and peaks and then drops right before you ovulate. When you ovulate your estrogen level starts to drop but your progesterone level increases because the corpus luetem releases progesterone to help " support " any embryo that forms until it can implant. If there is no embryo and no implantation then the progesterone level will drop quickly and this is what causes a period. When you are on " artificial " estrogen you estrogen level is kept artificially elevated for the full 20 or 21 days...it never " dips " down allowing for ovulation so you never get the " bump up " in progesterone so you don't have a period! You have what is called " unopposed " estrogen. So, I am not at all surprised to hear you had a 43 day cycle when you had no progesterone. This time, ask your doctor to give you 10 days of Provera which you take AFTER the estrogen. This will help bring on a period. If you still have no period AFTER the progesterone, then you undoubtedly have a blocked cervix. I am sorry you are in pain, and agree with you that the back pain is likely to be endometriosis. If I were you, when you see your doctor on the 7th, I'd ask for an HSG immediately to see whether your cervix is blocked and stop all the estrogen treatments as they are only torturing you.... Hang in there... Gwen
