Guest guest
Another angle on taurine which I hope no one else has to deal with...when on TTFD, my son's stool did get pale and he did get constipated. Taurine definitely helped with this. It also caused his hypoglycemia to get really, really bad. There is such a thing ( I found out) called taurine-induced hypoglycemia. Apparantely while taurine in some cases helps with hypoglycemia, or maybe with diabetes, it can also cause insulin levels to get too high, which can cause hypoglycemia. I still haven't figured out why sometimes taurine is supposed to help hypoglycemia, and other times cause it....still reading up on it. I stopped taurine as soon as we got off a round of TTFD and his hypoglycemia is back in control. I tried taurine a few days later when still off TTFD to see if maybe the metals stirring around had something to do with the onset of his hypoglycemia, but it seems it was the taurine to blame. His hypoglycemia came right back. Debbie
Guest guest
Debbie, Where did you “find out” that Taurine can induce hypoglycemia? Is there a paper, website I can read? In your post you say in regards to Taurine, “it can also cause insulin levels to get too high, which can cause hypoglycemia.” Would not that be hypErglycemia. You also mention you were still reading up on it, anything new.
