Here's our brief experience with allithiamine

We gave my 47 pound son 1/4 ml 1 x a day. More than that seemed to make him

really irritable.

I have started my 47lb child w/ 25mg 2 xs a day. Is

We had my son on it for one week, then he got a bad cold and we stopped it.

His stool also had become less frequent and yellow during that time. We

started again a few weeks later. Taurine seemed to help his stool a whole

lot. Our plan was to be on it for 2 weeks, then do a urine sample (we'd also

done one before starting it). By 10 days, he was getting really irritable,

sleeping with his head pushed against the headboard, dilated pupils,

hyperactive. I took the urine sample at 14 days and stopped using it. For my

son, he definitely needed a break. Don't know it hte problems were due to

metals being stirred around and not excreted, or metals being stirred around

on the way to being excreted, or to yeast, or to loss of minerals...all I

know is that he was really a hard child to be around for three weeks

afterwards. Just today I think he's back. So I'm not real eager to start

again. If I do, for my son, a week or less at a very low dose will be our

goal.

We have been applying 1/2 ml of allithiamine on each morning and

evening for nearly 2 1/2 months without a break. We had completed 29

rounds of DMSA at that point, using 50mg on a 3-4-hour schedule with

either a 3-day-on/4-day-off or 4.5-day-on/9.5-day-off schedule. We

were also completing a three-month course of Nystatin at the time.

weighs 43 lbs, by the way.

In any case, we have not seen any irritability or other ill effects.

has not been sick during this time; so I haven't had to consider

stopping for that, either. We are still using 'traditional'

chelating agents now back on a 3-day-on/4-day-off schedule, and have

added 25mg ALA to the mix.

In addition, we added Azulfadine at 175mg TID on New Year's Day. I

mention all this because a CBC taken last week showed 's total

neutrophil count at 1820, which is about half of what it was three

months earlier, or any other previous test. The web (i.e. webmd)

tells me that azulfadine can have the rare side-effect of lowering

WBC and neutrophils, and we know DMSA can lower neutrophils. So I am

little concerned, but not alarmed at this point.

My plan is to continue using TTFD daily, ALA on a 3-day-on/4-day-off

schedule, and DMSA on a 3-day-on/11-day-off schedule. That is, skip

DMSA every other weekend. I've also bumped up his Vitamin C to

around 1800 mg per day, in divided doses.

By the way, the single urine test I did while on TTFD but four days

after a DMSA/ALA round had ended showed mercury in the high yellow of

DDI's range. Also, starting in the second month of TTFD, I added

transdermal glutathione at 1/2 ml BID, and transdermal B-12 at 0.2ml

once per day.

Finally, I should mention that has continued to make good

progress these last few weeks. His comprehension is improving

rapidly, and we often hear what sound like phrases from him (e.g. " I

wanna say " , which we think meant 'stay') although he still does not

even use single word requests consistently.

So overall, my experience has been positive, but I am now needing to

check out what is going on with the WBC and neutrophils and perhaps

may have to consider backing off the TTFD for a while.
