Couple of questions for the group

Hello all,

First, I'd like to say that all the talk this past

weekend about beer and crabs inspired our dining

choice for Saturday night -- Red Lobster. Gotta love

those snow crab legs!

I have two questions for the group. First, has anyone

else ever experienced pain in the upper right quadrant

of the abdomen that is a constant pain for a period of

time (say 4-6 hours) and then suddenly it immediately

subsides and all is well again? This has been

happening recently and I don't really understand it.

The pain is dull -- not like a burning sensation like

acid reflux or indigestion -- and increases in

intensity to where it almost affects breathing. Then

suddenly, as if something " passed through " , the pain

magically disappears.

Second question is related to cholangitis attacks.

I've been reading some of the comments about what

cholangitis is and it has me curious. I went through a

cholangitis attack in February. Had moderate pain in

the urq of the abdomen, high fever, vomitting, -- the

whole nine yards. I was in the hospital for a four

days which seems like a very long time given how

quickly Steve R recovered from his transplant! My

question is when should you go to the hospital? I've

had the " flu like " symptoms before -- chills, nausea,

and have just rode the storm out at home. Any thoughts

or general rules of thumb?

Finally, I'm getting a little nervous. In July my GI

doc referred me on to the nephrologist and the first

available appointment was late September for suspected

glomerular nephritis. I've been able to put it out of

my mind since the appointment was so far off but the

thoughts of all the potential upcoming tests...ugh.

Take care all,

Jeff
