Guest guest
My son is 4 yrs old and had his very first and only Grand Mal seizure at the age of 6 months. He was controlled w/meds until the age of 1 and then no medication could control him completely. He started the ketogenic diet at the age of 2. He has been on the diet for two years and has done great. He has only exhibited 2-4 myo-clonic jerk type seizures daily. We decreased our meds from Dilantin, Lamictal and Phenobarbital (three times per day) to taking 150 mg of Zonegran in the evening only. My son was progressing well and then the other day he had a Grand Mal Seizure for 30 minutes which was stopped with rectal epam (Diastat). His neurologist is not concerned because it has been so long since his last Grand Mal. I on the other hand and very nervous about this being the beginning of another roller coaster ride. Does anyone have any similar experiences or comments to share. I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Thank you.
