Hi Group!

Okay, since having my son (last march) I've been battling one cholangitis infection after another. So, the pain is pretty constant, except when I get a short reprieve from infection. Anyway, along with the "normal" pain, occasionally my liver "jumps." There's no other way to describe it, other than it feels like a spasm. When this happens, the pain is SO sharp that it takes my breath away and usually I end up gasping loudly, and there's a burning sensation along with it, to the right of my breastbone. Many times, I've had to sit down quickly, because I feel like I'm going to pass out. I don't have a gallbladder, however I've noticed that this does seem to happen a bit more frequently after eating a fatty meal. Has anyone else experienced something like this, and if so, what is it? The pain usually starts to ease up after a few minutes, and goes back to the "normal" pain within about 5 minutes.

Thanks!

I have these sharper pains in the midst of " regular " pain, too. It'll

last for a few seconds/minutes or so and then disappears. It does

take your breath away. I recall that there was a thread on this

several months ago - you might search the archives...My doc says that

your bile ducts can spasm - particularly when you're passing a stone

or dumping a lot of bile, so that's probably why it is worse after a

fatty meal.

I'm sorry you're having such a time post-pregnancy. I know I did,

too. It let up after about a year and two ERCP's later, once my

hormones truly calmed down a bit. Oh, and I've been on antibiotics

ever since - the attacks just never stayed away post-baby. Maybe you

could do a month or two of rotating antibiotics and see if this kicks

it? Just a thought.

On another note, I only read on the web, and I'd like to stay a

member! delena1990@...

Take care!
