Guest guest
Diane, I was just rereading some posts when I saw yours about zinc deficiency linked to continuous fever . I wanted to tell you that we followed your advice and got her levels taken . She was at 61 ( ref levels 60-130 ) . Low but still ok . Should we give her some extra zinc ? And how much ? Any advice is welcome . Margot is 2 years old and weighs 10 kgs . The fever is still here . We can't find an infection . Sometimes it goes up even when she's very quiet . But she's doing much better since we increased her Klonopin/Rivotril dosis (from 0.5mg a day to 2.4 mg/day) . As of 10 days now Margot is off the diet , which makes me very sad . Hopefully we'll try again when she'll be stable for a while and not on so many medications . Thanks for your help, Orane and Margot
Guest guest
Orane I do not feel qualified to give you numbers()-: All I can tell you is that Depakote caused my son temperatures to soar and we suffered with this for 6 years. He would go from normal to 105.9 (I would say that was as high as our ear thermometer read in 10 minutes. It made me crazy. The Neuro always told me that it could not be caused by the meds-that he must have a "fever disorder". He has not had this problem once since dropping his meds. NOT ONCE. We give a multi vitamin with Zinc-but we also give Calcium Magnesium Zinc. If I were you I would try to keep her on a good multivitamin and if she is constipated use the Calcium Magnesium Zinc and see if it helps. Do you have a dietician or a nutritional councillor who could help our with the amounts required? If this continues I will do some research for you here-but I have to work the next 2 days-I could make some calls from work? Or I could forward your post to our EXPERT Barb -she may have some fabulous advice for you. I am positive that the meds were messing with my sons Zinc levels. My prayers are with you-don't wait 6 years like I did-the one who searches-FINDS!! Hugs Diane From: oraneplaya To: ketogenic Sent: Wednesday, April 10, 2002 10:33 PM Subject: zinc levels .
